  4. 1) slaloming was the hardest part for me

    2) I was already a skiier for several years, and had rented a board a few times. After I was sure I wanted to do it, i went out and bought the works.

    3) Trial and error.

    4) It depends on how gutsy you are. I am a safer rider, so it took me a couple of all-day trips before i braved those...

    5) It escapes me right now, but I remember slalom is an important term. Its the ability to make ride in an S shape, where you board heel to toe, first facing down the mountain and then facing the mountain itself.

    6) I didn't learn any on purpose, but I'm sure I've landed a few.

  5. Toe turns.

    NOOB!

Watching others, not giving up, a lot of falls, and a lot of days.

You mean blue?  Maybe a season or two.  I started really young compared to most people and I didn't have anybody holding my hand.  Most of it is mental.  People are afraid of falling.  But when you power through that rough spot, you realize you can take it on.

Pow, pop, jib, kook, slash, spray, kicker, ate-it, noob, park rat or monkey, shred, butter, gnar, you get the idea.  There's about three or more names for every term. lol.

Ollie?  Lean back and jump pretty much.  Use the springing force of your tail to pop.  That's the basis for most tricks.

  6. My name is Mat

    1) The harrdest part for me was leaning backward to turn. I found i would actual flip my board around so that i wouldn't have lean back.

    2) None what so ever.

    3) I took lessons in a group of about 5 other people.

    4) It took me about 5 lessons. It is rely not so hard to learn.

    5) Only the basic (Shred, Tear up, Flip back, ice c***k, speed patch, green pit)

    6) The first one I learned was turning the board around in mid air. the second was grabbing it. And finally grinding.

  7. 1) What was the hardest part when you first learned to snowboard?

    toe turns

    2) How experienced were you when you bought your first board, gear, etc?

i had done it once on a rental board

    3) How did you learn to snowboard?

i had some surfing experience which really helped me just pick it up- the heel trns anyway, i learned to sharpen my technique in a weekly lesson for 6 weeks.

    4) How long did it take of experience until you could ride down the main, intermediate slopes?

    a half of a day

    5) What are some words or like 'lingo' that you actually use as a snowboarder?

    grom, butter, sick, ripped up

    6) If you know any tricks, what is the easiest one to learn first?

ollie but that doesn't really count so I'd have to say butter

    -ELISE

  8. 1  Standing up after strapping in.

2  Never been on a snowboard in my life.  Some of my skate sponsors gave me hookups, so I didn't spend a whole lot.

3  Went to snowskate hill after an early fall snow and tried it out.  Then hit the real thing when the slopes opened.  Had to learn by trial and error.  Never had a lesson.

4  A few hours and I could ride comfortably down the blue runs.  I skate so that is a big help.

5  There's so many, but my favorite is steez.

    6  Ollie, box grinds, 180, 360

  9. Scot S.

im basing this off learning on a big mountain where i did 2 years ago so im using what they define to be beginner and intermediate

1: Turning... takes about 5 days to get to an intermediate level (about 1-2 to get to a beginner level)

*getting the balance down is a close second here because it really is the reason why turning is so hard to do.

2: as a boarder... i learned on my own board but i was a very experienced skiier so i knew what i was doing

3: i took lessons from a ski instructor at breckenridge and jackson hole mountains...

4: a total of 6 times(days) on my board on the mountain

1 time on my own getting lessons from a friend on the bunny hill (pretty much useless) 2 days of lessons at breckenridge mountain and by the end i was comfortible on greens and could do some blues... 3 days of lessons at jackson hole mountain. by the end of that i was going down all the blues with no problem.

    5:

carving: being able to dig the edge of your board into the snow in order to get the ultimate control out of your board.

snowplowing: (different for skiiers) going down the mountain so that your board is perpendicular to the slope

    6: easiest was a 180

the trick t really wanna try out next season is number 21 on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baNlTCXJN...

  10. 1. Carving

    2. One Season (i fell in love with it)

    3. By Myself and my bros

    4. First trip bunny slopes pissed me off cause i couldnt go fast and i would fall

    5. goofy, regular, kicker, ate-it, pow, grom, shred, carve, falling-leaves, and switch

    6. the easiest one is just going off boxes or 360 with no jump in the middle of the run
