If you start to cry, can a kitten normally sense that you're upset and tries to comfort you?

  2. I think so, because there was one morning where I woke up crying because of a dream.. and it seemed like my kitten was wiping my tears away. I felt his paws near my eyes and he started l*****g and nibbling on me. It was so cute!

  4. They might give you kitty kisses, and l**k the tears from your eyes.  Don't let that fool you, they like the taste of the salt in your tears. (wink!)

    I do think cats and dogs are capable of sensing our human emotions and if we are upset while it may not make them "sad" as in the literal human sense; it disturbs them though; enough that it can have an effect on them if things in the home are distressing for the human over a period of time.

  6. I had a cat that would get very worried if I was upset.  Sometimes I would pretend to cry just to see the cat react.  Because she was so cute and really wanted to console me.

  11. I think they can.  When I am upset, my cats seem to flock to me.  They are very intuitive animals.

  12. I believe cats are natural comforters ... Most kittens are into playing more than cuddling but it can be possible that your kitten can sense your emotions.
