If you stop taking zoloft abruptly, are there any permanant side effects?

i have stopped taking zoloft and gone off of it cold turkey and i wanna know if there are any permanent side effects because i have been feeling miserable for over a week now

  1. no permanent side effects but your depression and anxiety will come back, reminding you of why you needed to be on the medication in the first place

You must taper off it, stopping abruptly can alter your sense of self and can cause you to have feelings of self destruct and you can become worse than you were before you went on it!  Its a "happy pill" and obviously if you are on it...you need it.  I would not come off it with out the guidance of your doctor...you need his orders and his directions.  It needs to be tapered off...you take lower and lower doses each day until you dont need it any more.  

  3. i stopped takin zoloft and went cold turkey six years ago and aside from needing to maintain a positive outlook i was fine.  This isnt always the case tho im not aware of any permanent side effects other than u really might need to go back on them have ur dosage adjusted or maybe even try taking something else.

  4. EEk!  You're not supposed to do that; it can actually make the depression/anxiety worse.  Talk to your doctor about how  to taper off!
