  4. As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.

But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago that had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies - including several hundred in Obama's former district - deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.

Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama's close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama's constituents suffered. Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.

  5. Their is so many but you have to start with the Flawless Presidential campaign he ran that led to a historical nomination as the democratic nominee for President of the United States, Then You have to Mention president of Law review, harvard Grad With honors, only african American in the Senate. Those are the personal ones should I take up a whole page listing the 139 pieces of legislation he wrote in Congress last session while running for President.

I wonder if you really wanted an answer because if you did, I suspect you will drop this silly notion that Obama is an empty suit, we gave you a laudry list of accomplishments.

  6. Yes, I can.

Obama passed legislation with Republican Senator Jim Talent to give gas stations a tax credit for installing E85 ethanol refueling pumps. The tax credit covers 30 percent of the costs of switching one or more traditional petroleum pumps to E85, which is an 85 percent ethanol/15 percent gasoline blend.

-After a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

-His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent.

-Obama created the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income working families in 2000 and successfully sponsored a measure to make the credit permanent in 2003. The law offered about $105 million in tax relief over three years.

    And...

-Obama joined forces with former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL) to pass the toughest campaign finance law in Illinois history. The legislation banned the personal use of campaign money by Illinois legislators and banned gifts from lobbyists. Before the law was passed, one organization ranked Illinois worst among 50 states for its campaign finance regulations.

-As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan.

-He traveled to Russia with Republican d**k Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world.

-Obama has been a leading advocate for protecting the right to vote, helping to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act and leading the opposition against discriminatory barriers to voting...

    And...

    - In the U.S. Senate, Obama introduced the STOP FRAUD Act to increase penalties for mortgage fraud and provide more protections for low-income homebuyers, well before the current subprime crisis began.

-Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans, and he also was credited with lobbied the state to more closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending practices.

-Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.

    And...

-Obama worked to pass a number of laws in Illinois and Washington to improve the health of women. His accomplishments include creating a task force on cervical cancer, providing greater access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, and helping improve prenatal and premature birth services.

-Obama has introduced and helped pass bipartisan legislation to limit the abuse of no-bid federal contracts.

-Obama and Senator Feingold (D-WI) took on both parties and proposed ethics legislation that was described as the "gold standard" for reform. It was because of their leadership that ending subsidized corporate jet travel, mandating disclosure of lobbyists' bundling of contributions, and enacting strong new restrictions of lobbyist-sponsored trips became part of the final ethics bill that was signed into law.

  7. An LLD from Harvard University. Editor of the Harvard Law Review. A tough, unyielding stance against the war in Iraq because it took resources away from Afghanistan and the hunt for Bin Laden. By the way, McSenile graduated 5th from bottom in his class at Annapol;is, and then only graduated because his daddy - who was an Admiral - went to bat for him. McCain was a lousy pilot, and got shot down because he ignored his RHAW. He collaborated with the enemy while a captive. And, his association with the Keating Five was never fully investigated.

  8. 1. He told his pastor to park it

    2. He told his wife to be more "patriotic"

    3. he told Ludicrus to shove it

  9. Proudly:

    1) Marrying Michelle and fathering Malia and Sasha

    2) winning the democratic primary and accepting the nomination for president

    3) having "C's Mom" on Y!A asking questions about his accomplishments.

  10. He graduated from Harvard, has a law degree (and was editor of their law review), so we know he's educated in US law.  He spent several years in the Illinois senate and became so influential that the people of Illinois thought that he should be in the US Senate.  He is obviously a family man and did not leave his ailing wife for a younger, richer woman.

  11. I only know of one... Being nominated by the Democratic party to run for President.

Still can't understand how he did that..

  12. 1.Family Values: With his first and only wife with two wonderful children.

2.President of Harvard Law review: One of the hardest appointments to ever gain.

    3. Voted against the Iraq War from the start: He did this back when going against the president was unheard of.

  15. I did not support any of the ones that are on the list. They forgot that we are not republicans or democrats we are people, not titles to a corrupt criminal organision. America has forgotten that they are not titles but human beings who have a name. Do they call you hey republican how are you>. Or hey christain hows your day.America has to wake up and tell the hired help ( our goverment) that we are the ones who built this country and you are our hired help.not the other way around

  16. I'm voting for Obama because he is the Democratic candidate and I refuse to ever vote for another Republican candidate after the way Bush has arrogantly raped and pillaged my country. Bush has wrecked the economy, annihilated the budget, unbalanced the branches of government acting as though the office of the president is kingship answerable to no one, he still getting our children killed in a war that would have been over years ago if not for the war profiteering by people like Cheney. Bush has been an embarrassment to this country, going against established American principles like not torturing. The Republicans had complete control of the Senate, congress and the oval office for four years, passed everything they wanted including the tax breaks for big business and look at how much you are paying gas, milk and bread.

To vote for bush would be to say "Yeah, my country is much better off than it was eight years ago", and nothing could be further from the Truth. YOU GIVE ME THREE THINGS THAT ARE BETTER IN THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE OF BUSH AND I WILL VOTE REPUBLICAN. Otherwise I vote for the democratic candidate regardless of who it is.

I would think HE would say that his greatest accomplishments are his children and his wonderful wife.

I think they are pretty great too...but I also think these were important:

1.The “Coburn–Obama Transparency Act” eliminated gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and the establishment of USAspending.gov , a web search engine launched in December 2007 and run by the Office of Management and Budget to require lobbyists to disclose the candidates, leadership PACS or political parties for whom they collect or arrange contribution and the combined amount of the contributions.

  31. The Presidency isn't a contest over 'Who Has The Greatest Accomplishments"

The Presidency is about guiding the United States of America and preserving protecting and defending its people and the constitution that governs us.

The Characteristiscs of A LEADER are, Wisdom, Vision, and Ability to Communicate.

Senator Obama has all three of these characteristics and in superior quantity and quality vs Senator McCain
