If you support the military, why would you vote for Obama?

Even Obama has made it public news that he will cut military spending and downsize the military in general (Like what Clinton did). Who wants a weak Military? and WHY?

This is one of my main concerns with Obama. He has made it crystal clear that he will downsize our military big time. On top of that, he wants to dis-arm America of it's nukes. Then he wants to take away the citizens right to bear arms.

What on earth is this man thinking? With the world like it is these days, we need our military stronger than ever before. If he disarms America, we will certainly be nuked!

Then if he takes our right to bear arms away, this will cause a huge problem in this country. People will not give up their protection. I, myself, and my family will never give up our guns. If a murderer comes into our home, are we supposed to try to talk them out of committing the crime they came to do? This is just ridiculous! People need to wake up and see this man for who he really is.

exactly those cuts that clinton did cut the military really hard...they are still paying for those cuts today...my husband has been active duty almost twenty years...we dont make a c**p load of money ...and he goes to the "area" whenever its his turn...all i have to say is try walking a mile in our shoes..sometimes its tough..i wonder because he leaves in jan for his next trip if he will be home for our sons graduation from highschool...granted its not the birth of a child..but its a huge thing in our life..he has missed alot of things in both of our kids lives ...but he does not regret being in the military...but to cut it again...we are asking for trouble ...we will not be able to protect ourselves....and i guess it falls in line with his world unity bs...why thats my question why

Also, Obama wants to expand the military b/c Bush has depleted the available troops and is forced to send the same ones over and over to fight his war to safe face for his daddy.

I am in the military and there is no way I could vote for McBush.  Look at what the last 6 years has brought us.  Let no one forget that allot of Generals do not agree with Bush but that is something the Republicans don't want you to know.  Strained families - deaths of young Americans are on the hands of Bush and his lackies that failed to stand up.

Even his trip to Iraq was nothing but a photo-op.  Could have cared less about talking to actual troops.  His so-called concern for the troops is as empty as his promises.  

Your right about weakening the military  and that's what happens when the military is chopped like what Clinton did to it.  Costing us billions to build back up while trying to fight the war on terroriism.  But then, he could always do like Clinton did with the USS Cole, US Embassy, first attack on the World Trade Center, etc.  Just ignore it and all the bad guys will just go away!  (Yeah right!  And something like 9/11  couldn't happen again either if he asked them to please not bother us!)

I would suppose that if you're military and you don't want to serve 2,3, or 4 more tours of duty in Iraq you'll likely not want to vote for McCain.

It's difficult to maintain a strong military when the economy is declining, and when the bulk of the nation's active duty forces and reserves are tied up in two foreign nations fighting a war for an indefinite period of time.

What is your definition of support? If you mean using soldiers and military power responsibly, then you want a president who uses the military as a last resort. Supporting the military to me means providing for the protection of the men and women who serve, and ensuring their safety. That does not include a budget which is larger than all other military budgets combined, nor does it mean using the military indiscriminately.
