I know regular blood pressure is somewhere below 140/80. If my blood pressure is going up to 146/80ish .. is that dangerous. Or is it more the bottom number to worry about?

  1. It's not dangerous, but I'd still mention it to your doctor.

I'm 38 weeks along and am on bed rest because of high blood pressure.

Every time they have mentioned my blood pressure they seem mostly concerned about the bottom number. Today my blood pressure was 150/105 and they were still weren't concerned enough to induce me they just told me to remain on bed rest and they'll reevaluate the situation later this week.

I would definitely bring it up to your doctor at your next appointment, but I wouldn't be too worried. If you're seeing spots in your vision or have a severe headache that won't go away with tylenol then call your doctor.

  2. Hi, my BP started at 120/80 at 8 weeks pregnant, it then went to 137/80 at 12 weeks then at 17 weeks was 150/80. My midwife didnt seem at all concerned as she didnt mention anything. Well I started to worry a bit about it and mentioned it to her. She said that if the bottom numbers go to approx 90 then there is cause for concern. So in response to your question the bottom number is the most important one although while pregnant its best to keep your BP to a decent level.

And to add my BP is now 125/80 and 25 weeks pregnant :D xx

  3. Yes , a high blood pressure can kill the mother and that is not good for the baby.

Normal is some where around 120/80 or less.

I can't imagine the woman who has 150/105 ! I wish her and her baby the best.

Make sure to talk to your doctor.
