If you go to a community college first and then transfer into a four-year college, will those AP credits transfer?

  1. Possibly, check with your College counselor, as this may vary from state to state and even from course to course. So make an appointment with the counselor at the community college ( not high school counselor)  and ask.  Try to get the information in writing and signed.  Then hope that it still applies a few years from now when you are ready to transfer.  My daughter does this type of evaluation for a univeristy.  She looks at transcripts and decides which credits are transferable.  So, if you know which 4 year college you hope to attend, also make an appointment to talk to one of their admission counselors. Again, try to get any information in writing. I had two classes which I did not have to take in college due to my high school work.  On my official college transcript, the classes are listed , but are followed with the word "exempt."  I did not receive any college credit or grade, but neither did I have to sit through the classes.

  2. Hi!

I'm Andrea from Miami, Florida, a senior in  High School! :)

Yes, AP courses will save you money in college by not having to pay for those classes, and will save you time by graduating faster!!

AP Credits ALWAYS transfers and will go towards a bachelors or associates.
