If you take HPT early but negative takes a long time to show up could you be pregnant?

i took my HPT 5 DPO, i know that is a little early but I was just curious. But the negative took about 3 minutes to show up. Does this mean that I may still be pregnant there just weren't enough of the pregnancy hormones for it to show up yet? I am now 8 DPO and planning on waiting until i miss my period to test again but I was just looking for some input! Thanks!

you could be pregnant - you're testing way to early!

5 and 8 days passed ovulation is really early.  You should wait till you've at least missed a period.  Good luck!!
