  1. At 30 mph,  you will use substancially less fuel.     Most auto transmissions shift to the highest gear about that speed,   means you are going the best speed at the lowest RPM.    Also,  at the lower speed you have very little wind resistance.    Not to mention you will have more time to admire the flowers,  enjoy the radio show,  and arrive without the stress of fast driving.

  2. No. It takes you twice the time to get to your destination at 30mph than it does at 60 mph.

If you are able to maintain a steady 60 mph in top gear, the fuel burn at 30 mph and 60 mph is probably similar. However, if you have to accelerate and brake harder to reach 60 mph, you will use more fuel.

  3. I think you will be using my fuel because you are going faster...the more fuel the bigger the spark the faster you go.

  4. at 60 you use more fuel.  rpm's rounds per minute - the more rpm's the more fuel you use - at thirty miles per hour you are at approximately 1500 rpm's at sixty you are at about 2800 rpms

  5. I've always wonderd that. But I think 30@30 WILL save because lower engine rpm's and wind resistance. I think wind resistance increases by a factor of 4 for a given speed  so at 60 theres a lot more wind resistance.
