  1. The police would win, when they arrest you for interfering with railroad operations

  2. generally, if you are holding it down, the motor mechanism on the arm is pretty strong and you wont be able to hold it down.  however, if you are using a car, or something moderately powerful, then the gate is designed to break off so as to not damage the motor.  it is easier and cheaper to replace a broken gate than a broken motor.

but yes, if the gate is tampered with/broken, you COULD easily be arrested and ticketed by police.  fines in illinois START at 500.00$.

if you are attempting this, and the gate does break, 1st, at least call it in anyway, for automobilists and train safety, we need to know that a gate is broken.  then yes, the signal maintainer will be called out with a new gate to replace it, even if it  3AM  (lol!).

but in the meantime, it affects operations bcs police need to be called out to the crossing to flag it and protect the automobilists, and then every approaching train has to come to a stop before the crossing, thus causing delays, especially to commuter rail trains.

  3. The Judge. Judges always win.

  4. Most likely neither gates are meant to break away. But your gonna make me mad if i have to get out of bed a 3am to repair it. Oh and it is against the law to tamper with or break railroad crossing devices if your caught you'll be arrested

  5. You could hold one down easily lol.

  6. The small one that goes across the sidewalk, you would win, the big one that goes across the tracks would win. If the train was coming, the train would win.

  7. You would get catapulted into the air, then gravity would win as you crash to earth again.

Expect to get admitted to hospital and then police custody as soon as you are well enough to go to court.

  8. Right.  The police would win.  It's against the law to touch a crossing signal.

Crossing gates are motor driven in both directions, and the motor is much stronger than a person.  It would whiz you into the air.
