Question:

If you upload two different resumes on monster.com or other job sites, do employers see both?

Monster.com and other job sites allow you to upload five different resumes. You can emphasize different skills and experience in each. But when a prospective employer searches, suppose he finds two or more of your resumes? Will the employer think it is weird that you emphasize different things on each. Suppose I have one resume that emphasizes "social service manager" and another that emphasizes "health manager." Will the employer say, 'Hmm, so what is this person after, anyway?' Or do employers assume you could have a couple of resumes on file. Also, monster and other sites have 'premium' memberships where you pay a fee. Are these worth the money?

  1. Generally, you can set the status of resumes (e.g., "public" or "private"). A private resume would only be visible to an employer who you've applied to using that job board. If you have multiple resumes that are public, an employer could find more than one and might it that a little suspicious if they are very different. However, the way they would typically be searching is by keywords, and if the resume versions are different enough, they might not even have the same keywords. So, the employer may only see one version for any given search. I hope this helps!
