If you use all the hot water, how long does it take to get more?

Used all the hot water washing clothes. How long will it take to get the water hot again? Seems like it's been awhile and am wondering if I should call the gas company because it's some other issue???

it  takes  about  20  to 40 mins  to  heat  back up enough to use it for a hot shower

This would depend on the BTU's of your tank as well as the gallon capacity of your tank. It's also possible that your tank has filled up with lime, which decreases its capacity.  That also makes it harder to work efficiently.  One other possible problem might be that the pilot, if it has one , has blown out and will need to be relit.  If you have an electric igniter on your tank then forget that.  You may want to consult with a qualified person if your water doesn't heat soon.  P.S. Water heaters can be dangerous if they are gas, so be careful if you think you are going to try and work on it yourself.  I would advise against that, personally,  I would call someone.
