I just started using contacts a few days ago (acuvue 2) I'm rubbing, rinsing, and soaking them in their multi-purpose cleanser and doing everything as perfectly as I can.... so is it normal to see tiny little fibers sticking to the lens when you hold it up to the light??

No matter how carefully I clean it and dry my hands with a lint-free towel I still end up seeing those little fibers! Not affecting my vision though.. just annoying.. are they normal?

  1. yes they are fine.

and don't over rub them-because they'll wear out a lot faster.

    congrats on your contacts!

  2. There usually are a few very fine fibers on the contacts.  As long as it's not causing eye irritation, you're fine.  I usually get mine off of them by rinsing.  One thing to note, if there is irritation that doesn't go away after you take them out and clean them again, it could be a tiny tear in the contact.  You'll know it if you have one in it...the irritation is unbelieveable.

Make sure you rinse your contact lens case after you take your lenses out.  I dry mine during the day by placing it face down on a clean washcloth on the bathroom counter.

  3. Yeah its nothing really

  4. It is normal. You will be fine as long as you don't feel it in your eyes. Your eyes will wash out anything that isn't supposed to be in there.

  5. If they don't bother your eyes, I wouldn't worry about them.

If they do bother your eyes, try this: When I am putting my contacts in, after I wash and dry my hands I blow my palm and rub so I remove most of the lint left from the towel. Then after I squirt solution to rinse the contact off, I blow my fingers a little to get rid of tiny hairs and lint. Works pretty well, so you might try that.

Sometimes those little hairs are leftover lint from the towel you used to dry your hands. The only way to get rid is to blow or use a lint-free towel.

  6. I think it's normal I have those too

  7. yeah i think theyre normal........  =)

  8. Yes...i also jus started using contacts and the same thing happens to me....as long as u take good care of them...don worry bout the rest

  9. It should be no problem. Those are just dust particles.

  10. Hey congratulations on starting on contacts! I've started on them too a few weeks ago and I'm 16! =)

Yes, I've noticed that too. They're just dust and this cannot be avoided because as soon as you lift the lenses out of the solution, dust particles from the air cling to them. I wouldn't worry unless they irritate your eyes or obstruct your sight.

    Good luck! =)
