If you use something electronic when taking off in a plane will it break?

will it break? because i used something last time we were taking off and it stopped working. and also, can you use electronics once you have finished taking off and are in the air?

No, I went on an international flight with my ipod whose On/Off button was broken and I shoved it in my bag during take off because it wouldn't shut off and it was fine. the plane made it. the reason they ask you to shut off dvd players/music players etc is because take off and landing are critical times during a flight and if they have to give instructions to the passengers they don't want distractions. that said, cell phones do interfere thats why you can't turn them on at all

ur not supposed to use wireless stuff or cell phones while in the air??  I fly on military airplanes and keep my cell on all the time.. i have never had nething break on takeoff.

Well technically you can use electronics in the air...but somewhere down the line, someone used something that interfered with the incoming signal for the radio or navigation systems, and now they ask that you don't use during take-off.  Think of it this way, try to make a call on your cell phone and put it next to your TV, computer monitor, or a radio...do you see or hear the interference?  This is why you cannot use during takeoff, because if your phone did this to the pilots communication systems, you would be putting many people in danger.  On a side note, have you ever tried to use your phone when at cruising altitude?  I was unable to get a signal, but I played games just fine and nobody said anything to me.  

Any-who, to answer your initial question, no, using electronics while taking off should not harm the device...There was obviously something that went wrong with it that was totally unrelated to the flight.  Most likely a coincidence.  Hope this helps.
