If you walk across a rug and scuff electrons on your feet are you negatively charge or positively charge?

  1. Rug contains silk. Electrons can only move ( in static electricity )

    If its silk - perspex ( plastic )

    or wool - ebonite.

    Silk becomes negative and perspex ( shoe ) becomes positive, hence losing electrons.

    Wool looses electrons and ebonite gains electrons from wool.

    Hail too can gain electrons from baloons ( perpex ). Because same charges repel,, the farthest the hairs can get away from each other is to stand up straight.
