... then what is the distance you are walking? Eighth of a mile? Quarter? More? I really have no idea how to estimate distance. Remember - 20 minutes and a normal pace. I know that you can't provide an exact number, but a rough estimate will be fine.

Thank you.

  1. It depends on the person really.  I'm 5'4" and 20 minutes at a normal pace gets me an eighth of a mile.  For my husband at 5'11" he would be at 1 mile.

  2. I walk 25 minutes on my treadmill.  At a moderate pace I hit a mile at 22 minutes.  You probably walked about three quarters of a mile.

  3. 20 minutes might actually be mile, i remember in school i would jog a mile in 9-12 mins

  4. People have different normal paces. I am thin and walk fast. An obese person walks (or waddles) very slow. But it is about 4 miles an hour. Around 1 and a third miles. But why do you want to know. Walking at normal speed does not help to lose weight. If you want to lose weight see site below under exercise for more on why it does not work.

  5. You can speed-walk a mile in about 15 minutes, so.

  6. I used to jog on a treadmill for 20 minutes and at 60 years of age i would travel 1 1/2 miles.

Walking your would still be going about 1 to 1 1/4 miles.

If you walked vigorously you could do 1 1/2 to 2 miles at a time.

  7. It depends on how you define normal pace but most people walk around a mile in 20-25 minutes.

  8. What you consider a "normal pace" and what I consider a "normal pace" are quite possibly very different. I can quite easily cover 1 1/4 miles in 20 minutes, but that doesn't mean you will be able to do the same.
