To retaliate for the one he had.  Yes, it was with someone I knew and someone he knew even better, his friend.  It taught him how it feels.

I wouldn't have an affair, but if I did... I think it would have to be for one night only with a complete stranger - no names or phone numbers exchanged. There can be too many emotional hang-ups and higher risk of getting caught with someone you already know.
