What did you think of the verdict, how Sydney lost against West Coast by only ONE point 84-85? I was going for Sydney as i live there, so i'm really disappointed that they lost by one point!!! Oh and i think Barry Hall didn't do much either....

  1. Sorry i don't mean to be rude but i don't like the Swans or Hall and my thoughts about going down by 1pt CLASSIC i am still laughing

  2. Can't blame Barry Hall. he's a legend i give you that. For much of the match Worsfold put three defenders to choke him and his other forward team mate up. And these three defenders ain't your average eagles players. they are good ones. (glass, wirrapanda and some other bloke). barry got flustered so he could not kick straight so he decides to tangle with the other eagles players. in the end he could not do much except roos could have shifted him to other position so he could be more productive.

During the last quarter worsfold pushed his good and experience players back into the centre half so there isn't really much the great swans forwards could do except to take risks by kicking long, high and towards the goal.

This game was won by a team that has the greatest number of stars which is West Coast Eagles but Sydney did really well to fight till the end. unless a great deal of luck on their side, they would not have won because of the last quarter tactics that worsfold enforced.I bet they knew that Eagles are really two man short in the field coz their stars Chris Judd (who's going to have shoulder surgery) and Kerr were injured but were on the filed playing purely as moral supports to their team mates.

    Well done WCE.

  3. im a swannies fan too. and to be honest i wold of prefered to loose by thirty points than one. the eagles deserved to win. is the swans managed to get a goal at the last minute it would of cheated the eagles. so many of the swans were hus not with it and the weagles had it all together.

i love my swans. im sad that they lost but congrats to the weagles. i love watching these two great teams play. as im sure everyone else does too. :O)

  4. I was really enjoying reading Cezza's answer until I read that obscenely offencive word ABO. Not nice. Barry was a marked man. There was not a great deal he could do with such suffocating defence strategies. I think he has proven what a great player he is and asset to our team. It just was not their day.

  5. You are so right. Big Barry just couldn't seem to stand the pressure, fumbling the ball continually and not taking his time to kick straight, even hand passing when he could have kicked for goal.

We all know it's a team effort but why hand pass when you can kick for goal?

Barry had a day of panic on Saturday and I fully put the loss down to him. Sorry about that Barry but if you played without panicking as you had through out the year, Sydney would have won.

It's what is called "Premiership Pressure" and you Barry just couldn't handle it.

  6. I totally agree. First the commentators were bragging about how Barry Hall averages 5 goals a game, I don’t think he even got a goal in this whole game.

Also, I think swans could have drew that game or won it because in the last 30 seconds there was a boundary throw in and the *****d up umpire was taking his sweet old time. We all know how good the swans are so if the umpire moved it along I think we would have taken home the trophy again…

  7. West Coast were the better team on the day and this time more prepared with three additional players than when the Swans beat them earlier in the Finals.

Lets face it a team is only as good as the opposition lets them and the Swans had their chances. Several missed opportunities in front of goal were costly.

One thing Roos didn't do and should have done was to get Barry Hall out of centre half forward and ruck him for a while freeing him up from the close attention and putting a tall on his opponent.

The Swans tried valiantly but I think the best team during the year has won the flag and deservedly so.

  8. really sorry if you are upset but we all know that wce took home the flag theres nothing we can do abt it i totally agree with you barry hall didnt do a thing they we building up so much hype that the couldnt live up to it and thats how wce took home the Cup

  9. Oh my god. what was with our swannies. Did you see barry hall? He was so agro. He was more like loose boots then our legendary bazza. He couldnt kick any goals. sad. he had so many oportunitys. Oloughling wasnt much good either though... something was weird lol. Anyway.. in that game i decided i love Lewis Roberts Thomson. =D He kicked a goal. go him.

Haha by the end of the game i was screaming.. but the way i see it, they beat us, by one point, right? well, last time we won a grand final against them, we beat them by four times the amount they beat us by this time.

  10. Well yes you are right, the only thing Hall did all day was pick fights with the west coast players. My bet was west coast by 4 points, though i didn't really mind who won, so long as it was close (i'm a richmond supporter, so i havent had alot to cheer about for about the past 6 years), so i thought the second half was a lot better than the first, and the last 5-10 minutes were the most tense/exciting of the year.

I'm sorry for you loss, better luck next year, thought the tigers have it won then.

  11. Not an AFL follower, but watched the game and was supporting the Eagles.  Only because they weren't from Sydney and were beaten last year.

What a great game and what a great advert for the game.

However, i was totally put off by the pathetic performance of the Eagles players when they individually went up to receive their medals from the kids and in about half the cases ignored the kids proferred hands and just turned to salute their mates/crowd.

No class whatsover!  Unbelievably un-Australian.  This was a highlight in the kids lives...shaking hands with their AFL hero's and these primadonnas with oversized ego's could not give a toss.  They should be made to watch the video in front of their families and explain their behaviour.  Kudos to those players who had the basic decency and class the shake the kids hands as every normal human would do.

Next year it is anyone but the eagles for me!

  12. everyone brags about barry hall being so good i wonder if he even got a goal in this years gf. last years he didnt get that many goals..... good job westcoast. ben kerr even had a broken ankle or something and he was better then barry hall

  13. I live in Western Australia and cannot stand the west coast eagles. I am formally from Sydney and went for the swans.

  14. well my opinion on big bad barry was that he was trying to psyche up his team, get them involved. He was doing absolutely nothing in front of the sticks, but he was trying to show some innititave i suppose by showing some aggression and trying to get his team to show som emotion.

my opinion on the match? loved it. even though i am a sydneysider, i hate the swans. i hate everything about em: their style, the players, everything.

but from a footy fan's point of view? the best match of the year was saved till last

to rob(above): yes i agree that their behaviour was disgraceful and wirrapunda's (the aboriginal person no. 44) actions were highlighted since he and the kid were the only abos on stage. However, he showed his integrity in the press today when he apologised in front of the cameras and offered his guernsey to the kid.
