  1. The problem with wearing anything that corrects vision, is that your eyes will become reliable on them. Your eyesight doesn't worsen because of wearing them, but you get so used to seeing clear that without the contacts everything seems WAY blurrier than they did when you didn't wear contacts/glasses.

When you're growing, your eye sight will get worse a lot quicker than you might expect.  When you reach your mid-twenties to thirties, then your eyesight will stop getting bad as quickly.  Then, if you're nearsighted, your eyes will correct themselves when you get older until you become farsighted!

One of the main damages contacts can cause is if you leave them in longer than is recommended.  You can develop all sorts of problems such as giant papillary conjunctivitis which causes a bunch of little bumps to form on the back of your eyelids.  It makes them look (and feel) like sandpaper.

All in all, contacts can't do anything but help you.  If you're worried about anything, though, ask your optometrist; they'll be glad to help.

  2. a recent study by Vistakon says that soft CL wear DOES NOT have any effect on whether or not you "get worse":
