  1. I went overdue with my first child.  I got an ultrasound 7 days after my due date.  They checked the baby's fluid, the location of the placenta, the baby's postition and also the baby's size.  (They were wrong about the size by a whole pound.)  They decided to induce that day based on the ultrasound.

  2. Most doctors will do a non-stress test if you go past a week.  If you "fail" the stress test it doesn't mean something is wrong, it just means they didn't get enough info from the non-stress test.  Maybe the baby was just sleeping a lot during the test.

Please don't be worried! I was 10 days overdue all my tests came out fine.  My doctor induced me two days later and I ended up having a c-section, which in my opinion, was not bad at all!   I do it again in a second!  LOL! My daughter was 9-1/2 beautiful pounds!

My best advice is not to listen to "horror stories" from other people about pregnancy.  Everyone is different and no pregnancy is ever the same.  You have my blessings!!!!

  3. Yes, he did. My second child was 8 days late and when I was 2 days overdue I was sent for a scan to check his fluid levels. However, I am in Sweden, so I am not sure how much use that is to you in another country. Best of luck!

  4. I went overdue. The doctor didn't do a fourth ultrasound but he did check fetal heartbeat, movement, etc. He also told me that if I actually made it to my next appointment to expect to be induced. However, my next appointment was on a Friday and I went into labor the Wednesday before.

True story, my ex-mil was overdue with her second baby. She and the doctor disagreed on the due date and apparently this was before ultrasounds. When she finally did go into labor, it became apparent that although the baby was born alive, the nutrition had stopped. If she hadn't delivered that day, he probably would have died. The doctor apologized. I would have killed him.

  5. Yes, I was about a week and a half overdue.

They had me take a non-stress test, and I failed it. They took me back to ultrasound and performed what's called a 'biophysical profile'. They measure the baby in utero and check fluid levels.

Most doctors don't want you going very long over  9 months with a pregnancy. It depends on the doctor how long they let you go.

  6. I went overdue by 12 days and was finally induced but before the induction the doctor did give me an ultrasound. She checked the size and weight and the fluid level and everything was fine. Three days later she induced me and I had a very easy natural birth that last just over seven hours. The ultrasound just gives an estimated weight guess and I was told it could be off by up to a half a pound in either direction. My daughters estimated weight before birth was 8 lbs 15 oz but she actually weighed 8 lb 9 oz.  I hope this helps. Good luck and happy blessing to you.

  7. I was 4 weeks over - and no they did not. I was booked in for an induction which i had to have, and had weekly midwife appts.

My baby was monitored throughout my labour, but thats it. He was a perfectly healthy bouncing 9lb8oz boy though!!
