If you were GM for a day?

What trade or signing or re-signing would you make to your favorite teams roster. Im a Braves fan but live in Pittsburgh and it kills me to see what the Buccos do year after year at the deadline. If they would show a little faith and resign some guys they wouldnt suck so bad....but what would you do to your teams roster???

If I was Theo Epstein for a day, I would release Julio Lugo, simply because nobody would be willing to trade for him.  I would then do that deal that has been rumored of Alex Cora for Juan Uribe, and allow Uribe and Jed Lowrie to platoon at SS for the rest of the season.  Whoever is swinging the hot bat would get the starts.  I wouldn't do anything besides that.  Masterson is going to help alot in the bullpen, so in my opinion, dealing prospects for a rental bullpen arm is unnecessary.  Also, Manny would be a question mark.  I would shop him, but I wouldn't deal him unless I got a star OF, a relief pitcher, and a Prospect.  It would be nice if I could pick up a good Catching prospect in that deal as well, although I would resign Jason Varitek at the end of the year anyway.  Sure he can't hit well, but he is the key to developing all the young pitchers the sox have.  Masterson, Buchholtz, Lester, Hanson, they all can become alot better with a great guy like Varitek calling their games.

Conversely, I would do everything in my power to get rid of Deluchi.

I'd get some relief pitching for the Birds. We've had a lead in the 6th in 56% of our games, and have lost several of our last games despite a lead heading into the 9th.
