BESIDES the home run record...that one's kinda obvious. But other than that, absolutely any record you want.

This question was kinda "inspired" by The Enforcer's question a little bit ago...so the credit behind the idea of this question should go to him. lol.

  1. Great question, star for you.  I can't really decide between 2 things, career batting average and longest hit streak.  Those 2 records right there really prove who the best hitters and most consistent hitters in the game are.

  2. If I was a player I'd most likely be a pithcer therefore I would like to break Cy Young's all time wins, Nolan Ryan's strikeout record and I wouldn't mind breaking other records Like most no hitters and lowest E.R.A. and Consecutive scoreless innings and most Cy Young awards.

  3. I would want to break the consecutive games played streak set by Cal Ripken Jr. I can't stand being on the bench while my team is out there playing hard to get us a win. I want to be a part of every win and loss of my career and be able to say that I influenced every game I played in, in some way.

  4. Pain aside, I think it would be cool to make this list of best injuries of all time!

  5. Season Batting Average.

If memory serves Ted Williams was the only player to finish a season with a .400 + Avg.  It would be cool to do that.

I just looked it up I guess there were quite a few but none since 1941.  So I am going to stick with .400+

  6. Joe D actually hit in 56 straight games....and that is an awesome record

Nolan Ryan and his 7 no hitters is also awesome

  7. Joe DiMaggio's record for hitting streak

  8. The most impossible record to be broken, Cy Young's 511 wins.

It's held for a century and the next closest in all that time is 94 wins short (Walter Johnson). He won 30 games a season 5 times, plus he had another 10 seasons with 20+ wins.

  9. Hit streak, definitely.

  10. The most steroids taken in one year.

  11. I see some good answers, I would like to play for the most teams, I would have a sweet collections of jerseys and gear like no other. Thanks for asking!

  12. i would want to be the all-time saves leader

i dont think anybody is more feared in the league than the dominant closer..nobody wants to step in against hoffman or mo..when h***s bells or enter sandman comes on in an mlb stadium the players coming up to bat get struck with fear

thats the kind of record that makes you one of the most feared and respected players in the mlb

so i go with Career Saves Leader

p.s. my entrance theme would so be Enter Sandman too

  13. Winning the most World Series.

Baseball is more a team sport, and I don't think it should go by individual honor. The only goal a player should set to do is win World Series championships, not go for the hit streak record or home run record. That's more for individual valor there. But records have to be broken some day.

    Have a great day!

  14. Best batting average in a single season.  Be very tough to beat Tip O'Neill's record from 1887 of .485 in todays game, but to be listed with a better single season batting average than the likes of Ty Cobb, Rogers Horsby, Joe Jackson, and Ted Williams would be an honour.

  15. I want to break Pete's Roses career hits record.

However, I'm a poor hitter and very aggressive, so I'll probably break Reggie Jackson's career strikeouts record.

  16. 56-game hitting streak. oh, if there's an "error-less game streak" then, i want that one too.

  17. Career average.  Ty Cobb .366.

  18. If I could break the complete games record in this era... that would be a feat

Imagine how good a pitcher you'd need to be to beat 749 complete games in today's game

  19. i would want to break the single season innings pitched record as a starter. i get very frustrated now when i watch a game and the announcers say "so and so is closing in on 100 pitches he will be out soon" and its only the 5th inning. i think pitchers should stop being babied so much and go throw like theyre payed to do. i also dislike the rule that gives a pitcher a quality outing for six innings and 3 runs or less. im only 16 and i can throw all day without hurting myself so its ridiculous to think that a pitcher in the majors who is getting paid millions cant throw more than 120 pitches. bullpens would be better off if every pitcher could extend his outing by at least one inning.

  20. consecutive games with a hit. the record is 56

  21. This is a great question to ask. I wouldnt really want to break the home-run record anyways because you know your gonna get investigated on steroids. The record I would want to break most is the stolen base record I believed held by Ricky Henderson. Stealing bases helps your team in a big way that no one really notices. If you get a single and can steal to second, a single will score you definitly if you are a fast runner. If you can steal second to third, a sac fly and a single will let you can home. Stealing bases is an underrated thing that helps in a big way.

  22. I would want hits in a season, that means you helped out your team offensivly the best you can. More hits means more runs. On the pitching side I Would want the most Strikeouts in a season. Very powerful if you have that.

  23. The most stolen bases in a season.

  24. Interesting question. Records are made to be broken. If i had to choose, I would go with the hitting streak. Of course I would take a World Series Championship over any record.

  25. I would want to break joe dimaggio record of hitting safely in 55 straight

Players never get really close b/c of the pressure

  26. Lifetime batting average would be cool..

    1) Ty Cobb - .3664

    2) Rogers Hornsby - .3585

    3) Joe Jackson - .3558

    4) Lefty O'Doul - .3493

    5) Ed Delahanty - .3459

    6) Tris Speaker - .3447

    7) Ted Williams - .3444

    8) Billy Hamilton - .3443

    9) Dan Brouthers - .3421

    10) Babe Ruth - .3421

  27. Lifetime ERA or Stikeouts

  28. The one record that will NEVER be broken, Cy Young's 511 career wins as a pitcher.

  29. I would want to hold the bases stolen record because that would mean that some how I could get to be a base runner, and that I was very fast and daring.

  30. most attended games cal ripken

  31. Not a record, but an achievement.  I would want to hit .400 in a season.
