If you were a guest invited to my wedding, how would you feel...?

-Afternoon event with ceremony and reception-ish thing taking place at a rented out family fun park.

-All guests will receive coupons for free go-kart rides, access to the driving range, mini putt and water bombers.

-Food on the house (We're talking stuff along the lines of chicken wings and french fries)

-Alcohol free

-Guests will witness our coming together under a big tent, speeches and toasts will be made in same vicinity, and guests will be free to roam the premises (and access the go-karts following our first lap as husband and wife)

-We're letting everyone know it's a casual shindig.

Dare I ask. . . thoughts?

  1. I would feel like ii was at a 12 year olds birthdat party.

  2. Like punching you in the face

  3. thhat sounds soooo fun!congrats  =]

  4. i'd wish you the best and feel special for being invited.  But it's not about your guests, it's about you.

  5. I'd probably ask if you would have banjos playing as well. Seriously it sounds more like a school field trip than an important classy wedding. But hey, to each their own.

  6. That sounds really fun and laid back. If that is what you are looking for, then I am sure it will be fabulous!

ADD: I am guessing alcohol is not allowed in the park, and even if it isn't I can see trying to limit the free alcohol intake at a venue like that.

And if you are having this during regular business hours, I would think its rude not to give coupons for the rides, why invite them to some place fun like that and then make them pay for the good stuff?

Forget the snobs, I am sure it will be memorable and perfect for you if you are looking for a casual fun filled day! Your guests will probably appreciate having something different to do to.

  7. Fun!  I hope you're very happy together!!!  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚™Â¥

  8. I think it sounds very fun. It seems too casual. You know your guests best. And hey! People love free things, right?! Coupons are a fun idea.

    Congratulations :)

EDIT: This is to the comment that some chick made about you "bribing" your guests? Did she never hear of something called a wedding favor? I'm assuming your coupons are exactly that -- a USEFUL wedding favor (for a change, instead of some stupid candle.)

  9. I think it sounds fun for a party, but I'm not sure about a wedding reception.  In my mind, a wedding reception is meant for families to mingle, talk, get to know one another, relax, kick back...your event doesn't sound conducive to any of that.  Of course, you may look at the purpose of a wedding reception differently...If those things aren't important to you, then go for it!

  10. I always make a great time out of everything I do so I'd make your wedding a fun day out, too...but that's me.

I reckon your friends know what kind of people you are & the theme you are likely to go with. Yeah others might not be too impressed. But if you think about it, going the whole formal white wedding probably wouldn't please your friends either. Just the fuddy duddies.

Also some people get pretty over those traditional weddings once they have been to the first few.

Yes it isn't at all sophisticated but do you honestly care. Let people talk. It is your day.

  11. Well it's definitely unconventional kind of a redneck wedding kind of thing. It definitely wouldn't be the craziest. But I recommend something that would make you happy it's your day. You are going to remember this for the rest of your life and even tell your children about it. As long as your not going to totally regret it in 50 years i say go for it.

  12. I would love it!  I considered having my wedding at a waterpark and doing something similar, but in the end did something more traditional.

  13. this is a joke right?

    i'm very confused..

sounds more like a 5 year olds birthday party..

many people would gossip about it, honestly.

  14. I would think they would already assume it be casual with the go-cart rides and all.

    To each his own.

As long as you take the vows you make to each other seriously and have fun regardless.

  15. sounds refreshing.. diffrent then most weddings :]

  16. sounds like fun and child friendly besides everyone loves chicken and it won't be a won't boring sit down dinner

  17. hey, everyone has there own idea of the perfect wedding and if that day suits the two of you then i say go for it!! The day is suppose to resemble you and I think it sounds like a great day!! Some people are just not thrilled about the traditional stuff and I was one of them ...it's suppose to be a celebration and what better way than a day full of fun things to do and lots of good food!!

  18. I would think,    "Ahh! Finally something refreshing!"

I mean it, and sometimes I ... well ok I usually ditch weddings but I would think this was cute, sweet and FUN!

How old are you.. I'm 21 and I would enjoy it.

  19. Very fun and original wedding day. I'd happy to be one of your guests!

  20. I'd be quite excited. But..

    On this part

"All guests will receive coupons for free go-kart rides, access to the driving range, mini putt and water bombers."

I may think you were almost bribing guests. But then I'd realize that it was just a very nice gesture, and think you were very kind. :D

  21. I like it, but some snobbish people may say negative things about it.  If you do have it, you might want to tell people to dress very casual since they may end up staining their clothes.

  22. bring on the booze! then it would be a giggle!

  23. Hi.  It sounds like FUN....for a family reunion or a church picnic or a company picnic....but not a wedding.

Why?  Because...once you say your vows, take your lap, dispense the coupons....will you really be seeing your guests anymore?  If I am a guest at someone's wedding, I like to chat with the bride and groom...maybe the parents.  Chat with the other guests.

Although it does sound fun, it seems to me that everyone would be going in their own direction.

But....obviously, you know your guests...we don't.  If you think your guests will like this...then have fun!  It definitely will be different.

  24. OMG.. can i be ur friend and go 2 that wedding

  25. As a guest, yes I would think it was super casual, more along the lines of a birthday type celebration than a wedding. I would think you were doing all the correct things as far as providing food and drink.  If I were the bride, my main concern would be that people would be off doing their own things all over the place and that I wouldn't get to spend time with my guests. May I ask..Is this a second wedding? And will the entire place be rented out exclusively for you and your guests or will the general public be permitted?

  26. I would have fun and wish you the best.  I would definitely think it's offbeat though.  Congratulations.  :)

  27. What a fun idea!!  I'd love it. That being said Old fuddy-duddy relatives are going to complain.  Your wedding, your day...have fun!!!!!

  28. For me it sounds like a lot of fun, and I would really hate to miss it. Expect a lot of complaints, though. People love to complain.

  29. If you are older than 11 and all your guests are 10 - 12 years old, its fine,

Otherwise, you have GOT to be kidding.  I don't know too many grandmas who are into go karts!

There is no reason to spend a ton of money on a reception in a fancy hotel, but really, a theme park?

You;d be better off renting a pavilion at a local park or maybe using the basement of a church.  A wedding is a fun event, but it is also solemn, since it represents a commitment, which is serious business.  Think this through.

  30. OMG, I think that would be wonderful!  What a nice relaxing day that would be.

Best wishes to you and your new husband!!

  31. That sounds like a lot of fun!
