Would you actually consider giving your baby to one of these weirdos on Y/A who is saying they want your baby? The adoption process is meant to protect your baby, to make sure they go to a good home where there's no mental illness & where the adoptive parents can properly care for them. Would you REALLY settle for less??

I think people forget that there are MANY steps between a first contact of an expectant parent and potential adoptive parents. All of the control is in the expectant parents hands and they simply do not place their baby with someone they do not feel comfortable with. Many steps happen in between to ensure adoptions are handled safely for all involved and it is not that you answer an ad one day and hand a baby over the next.

The first step in connecting on the internet (ie: YA, websites etc) is the same as connecting via adoption ads, profile site etc. It is intended as a networking process, a place to find someone looking to adopt that the expectant parent WOULD THEN LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT. In that process of learning more about someone is where the birth parents (and adoptive parents) find out about each others sincerity, legitamacy, compatability etc This can be accomplished by subsequent conversations whether, phone or face to face, in-depth profiles and if they decide to work with one another adoption attornies (or agency professionals) bring it to the next steps to ensure everyone's right are protected and all background information checks out on both sides.

You see, it can be very safe but there can also be it's dangers as in any dealings with "strangers" for any reason. That is exactly why we all work with qualified and ethical professionals in adoption! But as far as making an initial connection - online can be a great way to bring people together who would not normally cross paths! That is also the beauty of it.
