  1. it would be easier to find an intelligent labour voter, than finding a waiter/waitress doing bad things to people's food.

  2. there have been cases when a waitress or cook got mad,[[true story]     a couple went to OUT BACK steak house 10 min. before closing orderd a steak dinner made the cook mad,[ he wanted to go home] couple thought the steak tasted funny ,couple wraped up the steaks went home, the couple were doctors, had the steak tested  the cook had pisst on the food  yuk  the cook got fired  the doctors are richer  so don't p**s off your waitress or cooks.. 9 times out of 10  no it would not happen

  3. I am a waitress, and have been off and on, for over 30 years. I've worked in every kind of restaurant, from fine dining to chains. Servers are pissed off constantly, mostly because of cheap, rude, obnoxious, arrogant, unreasonable customers, but, in all my years as a waitress, I have NEVER seen a server, anywhere, do anything to a customer's food. You would have to work in a restaurant to know this, but, there is never any privacy, there are always other people around (co-workers, managers, customers), where one would even have the opportunity to do something. In most restaurants, the food goes directly from the kitchen to the customer's table, there aren't any stops along the way where a server would have the opportunity to do something to the food. In the restaurant where I currently work, the food is carried to the customer's table by a food runner, directly from the kitchen, and this is common. Besides the lack of opportunity, I don't know (and have never known) a server who would risk their job by doing something like that; it's just not worth it. Servers may be annoyed, but, we vent with each other, and that is as far as it goes, at least in my experience. I'm sure there are people who work in the restaurant business who are not quite so ethical, as there are in every kind of business, but, the servers I work with, and have worked with - and there have been hundreds over the years - would not do something so disgusting. We are hardworking, have families to support, and want & need your repeat business.

So far as "being nice" to your server, why WOULDN'T you be nice, anyway? A pleasant interaction makes the experience better for everybody. Everybody has the occasional "bad" day, but, servers are constantly amazed that customers can be as nasty as they are sometimes. You (the customer) are doing well enough financially to be able to dine out. Your food is being cooked for you. Your food is being served to you. You don't have to clean up after yourself. You get to sit, and relax, and enjoy a (presumably) wonderful meal, you get to socialize, you are catered to in every way. What is there to be unpleasant about?!? If you are just in a cranky mood, please, don't take it out on your server, not because you are afraid they might do something to your food, but because it's just not the right thing for you to do. If you are in such a bad mood that it is challenging for you to be pleasant to those who are working hard for you, maybe (just maybe) you should have stayed home in the first place?

If, on the other hand, it is your SERVER who is CAUSING you to be unpleasant, then, by all means, exercise your options, which could include complaining to the manager and/or leaving an appropriately lower tip.

As servers know, the customer may not always be right, but they are never wrong. We work very hard to make your entire experience memorable, so that you will tell your friends, and all of you will come back, again and again. It is how we make a living!

  4. Your wife is right.  But - by the same token, there are some waiters or waitresses that just do it because they don't like their job or they are ticked off at their boss and they take it out on the customers in retaliation.

I try to treat everyone the same no matter what line of work they are in.  Besides - you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

But in answer to your question, no I would not.  I would simply request to be re-assigned to a different section.  Maybe the customer would be less annoying to another server.

  5. No! I have many customers that annoy me, believe me, but I would never mess with something that someone else has to eat. I'd like to think that my momma raised me BETTER than that!

  6. I was a waitress years ago & although some customers were rude I never did anything bad to them but I'm sure people do, lol. My sister was an air stewardess, apparantly they also do stuff to the food of annoying passengers, lol.

  9. I worked as a waitress years ago and the thought would never have entered my mind to mess with a customers food, but times have changed and I'm sure it happens. Be nice to your customers

  10. I waited tables for a couple years, and personally I would not mess with someone's food, but I have seen people use bad ingredients and drop stuff on the floor then use it, so yes, be nice to anyone who EVER touches your food!!!
