If you were an american citizen and found an uncharted unclaimed island could you start your own country?

Or would you be tried for treason? And no I haven't found such an island I'm just curious.

Yes. All you'd have to do is put a flag (one you design) to claim it. This is your countries flag. Of course you can change it, since your the ruler. Good luck finding an island though.
