I'd keep the standard use of Tagalog words of Spanish origin, e.g., "alas dies y media ng gabi", "alas singko ng hapon":

that is the accepted practice anyway.

Sometimes we are vague, especially in rural areas where life is slow and mellow and the exact time is not important, in which case the following are used:

"madaling araw" - very early morning

"bukang liwayway" - dawn

"umaga" - morning

"tanghali" - late morning

"tanghaling tapat" - around noon

"hapon" - afternoon

"dapithapon" - late afternoon

"takipsilim" - dusk

"gabi" - night

"hatinggabi" - around midnight

it's really hard... I mean, before, the natives don't use any clocks or watches... they observe time through sun rays...

the arrival of Europeans, specifically the Spaniards, thought us on how to use/observe time through using clocks or whatever they used before...
