  1. Good grief! How did you manage to wind up paying over 3 grand for a plane ticket? Are you flying 1st class?

And it would be helpful to know how long you were planning on staying.

You can get a perfectly nice hotel for about anywhere from about 70 euros to 120 euros for a single

A simple lunch  will be about 15 euros and a nice dinner in a neighborhood resto will run 35-50 euros.

A couple of drinks in the evening can be as little as 6-7 euros. In a venue with music or dancing its more like 20 euros.

On the other hand, a night in the Crillon will cost you 615 euros, the Tasting menu at Taillevant will cost you 140 euros before you order some wine and evening at the Lido will start at 80 euros with a bottle of mediocre champagne thrown in.

  2. it could be cheaper

  3. $3000 sounds like a tour package to me which is unnecessary.  Just go to some airline websites and you can get some prices quickly.  Air fare is the major expense.  If you use public transportation, the cost is minimal.  If you eat at bistros and fast food restaurants, you can save $.  If you are willing to buy groceries, you can save even more $ and much of the food you will be buying would be considered "gourmet " items in the US so you can still have a good time eating store bought groceries.  Food can be expensive so you can estimate how much food costs you per day in Miami and multiply that figure by 2-3 times. The hotel estimates that other ppl gave you (70-120 euros) sounds right.  There are so many free sights to see and museums vary in admission fees but estimate $10-15 per ticket.  You can google "Louvre" and they will have exact price info.  Souvenirs vary in price as you would imagine, but be aware that French ppl shop for clothes in the US because clothes are expensive in France (sometimes double or triple the price in the US).  Most bigger stores take credit cards (your purchases will be converted back into USD and you can pay the bill in $ at the end of the month),  The exchange rates charged by most credit card companies are fair.

  4. I'm actually planning a trip to France so I've been looking into this.

I'm from New York so I don't know the difference in fare for Miami but I know if you wait until about 3 weeks before your trip the airfare cost could be up to 40% cheaper than if you wait to buy it on short notice or way in advance.

I think if you look at different options your entire trip could be around 3000, including airfare.

  5. over 4,000.oo

  6. Paris is an expensive city to begin with, and the US Dollar is taking a beating compared with the Euro. Count on spending at least $300 per day for a non-deluxe hotel, meals, transportation, basic sightseeing, and incidentals. That does NOT include an airline ticket, which you should be able to get for a lot less than $3088 r/t from Miami (check websites like Travelocity and Airgorilla).
