If you were in a restaurant....?

If you were in a restaurant and you saw a teenage kid, praying then eating what would you think?

The reason I ask this is because, whenever I'm in a restaurant or a public eatery, I always make the "sign of the cross" and then prey to myself, then eat, and I get some bad looks from people of all ages. What would you think if you saw me do this?

  1. May I suggest that you pray to God?

I would think that you were one of His faithful ones if I saw you do this.

  2. I've seen it before. I didn't think twice about it. I was there to eat not spy on people.

  3. I would think that you were confident about yourself and your religion. You don't care what everyone else thinks. It's a free country. I say don't be bothered by it.

  4. i wouldn't care...people who give you bad looks are just intolerant of your views...

  5. I think it's wonderful.

Don't stop being proud of your strong faith.

  6. I would smile at your courage to be grateful to your God for your meal and remind myself that I too should express thanks in public like I would do at home.

  7. i wouldnt care.

  8. You keep giving God the glory he deserves.  Don't worry about the looks you get from others.  You are planting seeds that only God can water. Keep praising him and giving thanks!

    God Bless you !!!

  9. I would wonder why you are making the sign of the cross? Are you trying to draw attention to yourself. No where in the bible did anyone make the sign of an instrument of torture prior to praying, but the Pharisees did sound a trumpet prior to giving alms. (They did this to get noticed) Prayer is wonderful and thanking God for the goodness of a meal is great, but do not do it to be noticed by men or as the bible says, "you have received yor reward." God Bless

  10. As long as they weren't being obnoxiously loud and/or showy about it I wouldn't care a whit.  What do I care if a person says a prayer over their own meal?

  11. I'd think you have problems.

  12. I'd point and shout. LOOK AT THAT FOOL WASTING HIS TIME PRAYING TO A MYTH. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

But seriously, I probably wouldn't take any notice at all.  I  may be an Atheist, but I realize other people take their religion seriously If they feel the need to pray in public, great, good for them.  Just don't ask me to join in.

  13. I'd think it was your right to do so and your business. If people don't like it, I wonder why they're looking at you?

Do what you do. If people don't like it, they're free to not look at you, either.

  14. It doesn't bother me.  I sometimes do a little Irish jig before meals.  Sometimes I get looks.

  15. I would think that you do the same thing that I do. I pray before I eat giving God thanks for the food I was about to receive.

    Catholic Christian

  16. Some people may think one who prays in public is making a display of his piety.  Personally, I couldn't care less: make the sign of the cross and pray to your heart's content.

  17. I wouldn't really care, as long as you aren't harming anyone with your worship you can do as you please. Although, I might have some complaints if you were sacrificing a ram on the table with your butter knife.

  18. I would think you were religious and grateful for your food.

  19. I personally think "Doesn't that person care about being judged?  What up with that person who doesn't seem to care what I think of them?"

  20. Don't care what people think!!! I only care what God thinks... God is the one you're trying to impress, not everyone else. So what, let them look at me in a funny way. It doesn't matter, I'm still going to pray before I eat. Why? Because God likes it when i pray. Do what I do, just ignore them. They don't know you, nor do they know what you've been through. They're not the ones that saved you from the devil's h**l. God is, and he's the only one that matters. Do what you do, for God, and not anyone else!

  21. I feel kind of sorry for them.  I mean, they can pray without making a big show of it.  They just call attention to themselves.  If they honestly seek to honor god over their food, they can do that in less of a "Look At Me!" sort of way.

  22. I would think you were someone who said some sort of prayer before you eat.

No value statement attached.  My only question is are doing it for a show or for yourself?

  23. i wouldn't mind... if thats what you do, then so be it...

  24. I would think nothing at all of it (well, apart from the obvious, like theres a young man saying grace before his meal). I'm far too tolerant and open minded to form opinions and make judgements about stuff that has got nothing to do with me. I saw a lady praying in my staff canteen once before she ate her meal. Don't know if it made the food any more palatable though! haha

  25. I pray in public too , but silently without really bowing my head or anything. Of course i don't normally close my eyes when i pray either....i wouldn't think it was weird.

  26. Honestly, as I don't share the same beliefs, to me it's rather silly (no offense), but it's no big deal and would just keep my opinion out of it and enjoy my own meal.
