... would you buy it? I'm writing a book about a crazy boy (yes, based on myself) & his family and wonder if you read this excerpt would you think it interesting enough to read?

The Sound of Blue

In my dream I saw the Cosmic Windmill on the churning,

writhing event horizon of Celestial Atrophy; the son and

daughter, wife, husband and lover of Quantum Entropy, upon

his brow the infinite void and his teeth the skulls of the

angels spinning, spinning the onyx blades of the mighty mill slicing through the fractal parayers and

screams of a stillborn god, his futures and her pasts.

The moment, then, our time; this world and all

actuality streamed from the mighty blades in a freeze

frame elongating into an endless blur devoid of all

sound, colour, dimension, form and subtance. The

past, present and futures of this revolution, all one

moment, no moment, everything, no thing, everlong and never.

I awoke in semi-darkness to the sound of thunder. The

interweaving rivulets of rain slithering down my

window cast strange shadows on my walls which seemed

to dance and twirl like electric goblins and splashing

ghost babies wiggling, singing and cartwheeling for

me, for you, everlong in blue.

  1. i love it!! it is awesome i would definitely buy it. your making want to read more and that is what a good author does. i'm i very picky reader and you have me hooked. tell me when your done writing it i want to be the first one to read it.  good luck on finishing your book. :)

  2. Honestly? The description is much too verbose and borders on pompous. It would turn me off.

  3. cool.

  4. If it were all like the first paragraph, my brain would explode upon reading it, but the writing style is excellent.  A little bit abstract, very detailed, with a slightly melancholy tone.  It sounds like it has great potential, and- if I knew more about its actual plot- I would probably buy it based upon its style.

  5. very wordyy...but interesting =]

  6. erm

    a bit unsatisfying sorry!

  7. Eh, although the first paragraph turned me off, I'd but it because the second one seemed to have the makings of a good book.

  8. I'm more of a pleasure reader, per se, so I like reading books that I don't have to think about, or in which the imagery comes to me naturally.

So to me, this is just too much thinking - the words sound nice in my head, but they mean nothing to me (though they probably do mean something, I'm just too lazy to try to understand).  Maybe if you gave something with a bit more emotion or something that's true to life, I would.  Otherwise I'm not into it, but just out of personal preference.

In short, I wouldn't buy it.  M Sry.

  9. It's a bit wordy, but very descriptive and seems interesting. :)

  10. That was way cool! :)

  11. This feels like you took something you wrote in plain English and then ran it through an automated thesaurus over and over until it had lost all semblance of meaning. Good writing isn't all about vocabulary.

  12. Couldn't even finish the first paragraph, but bet if you share some of that peyote of yours, I'd probably want to have the book to go along with the trip! Hey when did peyote become the new designer drug? I'd like to write a book too....

  13. d**n you. You never told me you wrote poetry!!!

    Its wonderful.
