  1. 1 what type of job?

    2. what are the hours?

  2. if they paid me travel allowance on top of my salary then yes i would it would also depend on the salary as well

  3. I do travel that far actually, although I don't have to do it every single day - I just do it a couple of times a week.

I absolutely hate it.  I have no social life on weeknights.  It tires me out so much that I struggle to get up the next day.  I actually have to change trains several times and frequently have a sore back through carrying my laptop with me while I make all these changes.  And the changes mean that it's difficult to read or anything because I'm constantly moving instead of just sitting.

But I do it because I have a relatively good job which should lead to great things in years to come.  I work for a very well-known company and it's a good position considering that when I started, I didn't really have experience in the field.

However, your biggest consideration should be whether you can afford the train fares or not.  Mine are £31 per day which is reimbursed by my employer.  If it wasn't reimbursed, there is just no way I could afford to do it.  As it is I cannot afford to pay off my credit card if there is any delay processing my expenses, but at least I know I will be getting the money eventually.

One thing I note is that you say that moving isn't an option "at the moment".  Presumably this means that you could consider it at some point in the future.  If this means, then, that you would be travelling this distance for a limited time period, then I'd be more likely to consider it than if you were doing it indefinitely.

  4. No! 1hour is the max for me unless they're paying you 6 figures! it ain't worth your time.

  5. Well that depends if you can negotiate your train fare into your wages and if you think you'll enjoy the job enough to put up with the commute. I have a sales job and some of the area I cover is a long way away so at least three times a week I have two or three hours there and back so spend a long time alone in my car. However, they pay me well and I enjoy it so I don't mind.

  6. Don't do it!  I did it for a few years and it nearly killed me!  If it is full time 9-5 you will have to be up at 6am and will not be home until 8pm - when will you have time for you?  Your entire weekends will be spent catching up on housework, laundry and sleep which you wont have time during the week to do.  If you are even considering it it must be a really special job.  Do you work to live or live to work?  In the summer it might be slightly bearable (I lived near the sea and had a beutiful walk to the station) but come winter when it is dark, cold and miserable it is really awful!  And that is when the train is running properly.  I had times when I didn't get in until 11pm - then had to make something to eat, feed animals and was too worked up to sleep.  In the end it made me really ill.

  7. Well it would have to be very, very, well paid to afford the extortionate train fares!!

  8. Is it worth the time?

    Is it worth the expense?

will you have a possibility of progression (either within the company or by it adding value to your CV)?

  9. hi it depends how much the wages are .........and if  you love the job its ok in summer but winter coming

  10. no way the price of rail tickets keeps going up and four hours extra a day on your work day ?

    sorry but no chance

  11. Dream job of a life time yes.  McDonalds, or not going to lead very far; then no.

  12. i would not accept a job offer with journey over an hour cos if that train is cancelled and you have to get a rail replacement bus then you will be screwed.

  13. Depends on the job surely.  If it is a job in ASDA then probably not.  If it pays well and starts me off on a ladder Iwant too be on then possibly.

However if it doesn't pay enough to rent somewhere then I would worry that its not a particularly well paid job and probably wouldn't travel that far anyway.

  14. If I want to work, I have to do that anyway.

  15. Well, that would depend on how much i wanted the job!

I mean,if it was my dream job and an opportunity not to be missed and knew it was a job i'd be really happy in/with,then sure,i'd take it!
