  1. There should be some fun answers to this one:

    British Columbia - God's country

    Alberta -Oilberta

    Saskatchewan - farmatchewan

    Manitoba - frigidoba

    Ontario - Who cares?

    Quebec - whine country

    New Brunswick - Irvingsbrunswick

    Nova Scotia - Bluenose escotia

    Prince Edward Island - Lobster Island

    Newfoundland - Friendlyland

  2. I'm not sure I would make too many changes, as the names are pretty good right now. I think the only ones I would change would be:

    Newfoundland and Labrador

    =====================

    It was found a long time ago, so it is not New anymore. I would consider just changing it to Labrador, and have Labrador Mainland and Labrador Island.

    (If you look at Nova Scotia, at least they used latin to cover up the name "New Scotland"!)

    New Brunswick

    ===========

    Just drop the "new" part. Call it Brunswick. Or because Brunswick is from a German word meaning "of the village", switch this to latin too and call it Nova Vicus.

    British Columbia

    ============

    It is not a British territory, and Columbia reminds me of South America which it is not. If I were to change it, I'd pick "Okanaga".

    Northwest Territories

    ================

    I like the fact that part of NWT became Nunavut, but when they broke it in two, I would have selected a more appropriate name for the remaining area. For that, I would revert back to the historic name of Rupertsland, or since it sits to the south of the Gulf of Amundsen, just call it Amundsia.
