  1. absolutely, FAME is a hard thing...

  2. Well if I had taken that unit in philosphy instead of stupid psychology (what a disaster THAT was), I might be feeling superior, as it was I failed psychology, so I guess my point of view on anything doesn't count anyway !!! AAAAARRRGHH !

  3. Your philosophy is constantly changing, everyones is. It evolves. If feelings are triggered that change your philosophy then there is no contradiction. It would be impossible to maintain the same mindset and a different philosophy, and vise versa.

  4. No, I just would feel very afraid.  Remember what they did to Socrates.

  5. Unlike a "Wet Paint" sign a Philosopher title only says that you like to think about things, there is nothing truly going on in philosophy. It is all hypothetical and theoretical and abstract. It is logic put to use to argue what is and is not the way it should or should not be. It is a whole lot of nothing. So the moment you figure out that you do not know anything at all is the moment that you are wise enough to be called a philosopher but smart enough not to care. As the joke goes, X is the mathematical term for unknown and a spirt is a drip under pressure, so a philosophy epert is an unkown drip under pressure who thinks all the time about thinking all the time. Enjoy it while it lasts. I knew a man who have top ten states in philosophy and other places and now it is a totally different place. It is now more for empiracle than existential and he believes he would no longer fit in.

  6. I allways think myself superior, because I am. Not because someone calls me a philosopher. Would accept the compliment though.

    Peace.

  7. Alice In Wonderbra!

Well first let's break down the word in it's meaning. Philos is from the greek language meaning "loving" and a sophist was someone in ancient Greece who was a thinker or scholar that became skillful in devious argumentation. They were known to be clever and wise in their trickery to the commoners in society, so in response to your question, I would probably be full of myself and over confident but not to the fact that people would hate me. I would be respected in the community as a problem solver and a situation humorist. I would make everyone laugh at the problem until a reasonable solution was found like a George Carlinopolis!

  8. No, not superior but it would make me happy.

  9. Just because I'm superior to people...

Is no reason not to love them...

(Patting you on the head like a puppy now...just kidding...hee hee)

  10. Interesting question.

Depending on my contributions, if they are genuinely philosophical to a greater extent, then that would make me feel really proud.

However, i don't think that would be strong enough to trigger feelings contraicting philosophical doctrine as, this would instead make me work towards being better than who i am.

Meaning, it would not at all.

    Thanks for asking dear

  11. To be given a recognition of anything special and unique is normally going to make anyone proud. Humans search for uniqueness and standing out from others. It's nothing to be ashamed of being proud of self.

Only that it's never going to be strong enough for someone to be proud of self. The recognition has got to be honest and is based on reasonable grounds. If the addressee wasn't worthy to be called such a tag, then it's a mere compliment and there would be no need to trigger any feelings.

Though if it was a true comment, there would be no need to be too arrogant about it. Only that if you were called a 'philosopher', it would mean you're a rational person. Rational people don't get too proud because they've been called a good name. But they work harder and try to appear closer to what they've been called or what they're thought to be.

Nevertheless, we're still humans and we'll still feel good about ourselves...Sometimes even better than the others.

  12. it really makes me feel like a silly who has spent too much time around my submarine troll, lol. you know what I'm talking about, hahaha

all I know is that right now I have two weeks since I've even checked the board of that category...

  13. Well considering a persons philosophy is what they believe and think if it does cause them to act in a way against that then they didnt understand what they believe and think, as it must be with their capacity to do so.

If you mean the phlosophy they said they believed ... then they didnt understand it and communicated what they thought about they did. Perhaps they didnt think about it enough, openly enough .... and so on ...

  14. Tags shouldn't matter one way or the other for the true philosophers, not even the genuine tag of 'philosopher'. Others would react depending on the esteem and understanding they have of the philosophical way of thinking..... some may react to justify while others may react to erase!!

  15. Not at all. I don't consider "philosopher" to be a compliment. A "philosopher" sits around and...thinks? But thinking without acting is just daydreaming. I immediately distrust those who describe themselves as professional philosophers.

To be a thinking human being is to be fully human. Yes, there are a lot of people out there coasting along on autopilot, but using your God-given brain doesn't make you superior...it just makes you human.

  16. "i am a frustrated beauty queen" wait...ill go to yahoo answer and try to get a "beauty and style" TC badge to make me 'the queen'

    ...nuff said

  17. Well, if your philosophy was Nietzchean, you'd probably think yourself a pretty awesome guy, and go exerting your will to power all up in everyone's face.

By which I mean to say, even if you were to feel superior, this doesn't  necessarily have to contradict one's philosophical doctrine.

But yes, I'd probably act like a total *** if I were to be labeled a philosopher.

  18. Before I looked like a clever bum, now I look like a stupid intellectual.

  19. OLD

  20. Already tired,  Ms.  Alice,  of this burden!  It does weigh at times like the burden of Earth Atlas had to carry....NO,  Actually its a bit embarrassing...this posturing!

What have we done other than spending our lifetime punching the keys in this Yahoo World???

Now anyone can do that and earn this tag!  Nothing extraordinary.  So dear,  lets just forget what we carry and live as we would...regardless!

  21. No. It might cause me to question the tagger's motives and/or intelligence but I just ignore it.

How can I feel superior if no one understands what I say? And how can I be a philosopher when a single, new, "swift kick in the teeth" understanding can flip my entire perspective on its ear?

That's all I want. To have my world turned upside down and have reality kick me in the proverbial teeth, repeatedly. One of the consequences of wanting that is that you'd have to stop what you love doing in order to work up a good head of superiority steam. It's a shame, really, because I'd imagine that getting knocked off a high horse would make for an excellent, perspective-flipping kick in the teeth.
