As a boxing fan not only do I duck and dodge while watching a fight on TV, I always find myself being the announcer as well, I would love to have called a fight ringside with Howard Cosell.

  1. I've been lucky enough to call several events from ringside, both in the Chicagoland area and in Northwest Indiana.  It's a total riot. . .  about as much fun as you can have at a live event with out FIGHTING. . . .

Cosell would be the obvious choice. . . but if I really try to think of the BEST EVER, it'd be Don Dunphy.  He called fights for a zillion years, and no one, not even Howard, did it better.

These days, I'd love to call blow-by-blow with Teddy Atlas (so knowledgeable and logical) and Ray Mancini (so fun-loving, and speaks from hard-fought experience).  Who knows. . . as Bolo Punch grows, I just might, someday, get the opportunity.

    Great question!

  2. Thumbs up to Blogbaba.  Those would be my choices too.

  3. Im a massive boxing fan!!

Id go with George Foreman.  I love the guy

  4. Great question, something for the commentators I think Howard Cosell and Jim Lampley of HBO something about JIM I would love to see a special on him for some of the "hype" words and descriptions he's said during his sport casting career..

  5. Cosell without a doubt...

  6. Howard Cosell, Don Dunphy, and Larry Merchant.  Far and away the three best ring side commentators in the history of the sport.

  7. Larry Merchant.  I respect his knowledge a lot, but I have another motive for choosing him.  His stiffness and arrogance would make me appear to be the relaxed and friendly member of the team.
