Only ONE player?  naw, i wont answer the question with only ONE player.  I would go with a good pitching staff, cuz thats the meat of the game right there, and as a hard core MINNESOTA TWINS fan, I would have to say my 5 starters would be Johann Santana, Boof Bonser, Scott Baker, Fransisco Liriano, and Matt Garza.  Don't hate just because the twins take nobodies and still wins the division, thats called good coaches.  The Yankees wouldnt know anything about it.  Any jackass could make a great team with an unlimited salary.

Sorry I can't really make up my mind, but these guys are good ballplayers on and off the field. they have natural leadership skills, and great all around players. They're also very down to earth, and that helps a huge amount!

i'd take hanley ramierez because he is still very young, only 24.  He makes next to nothing.  Also he is one of the best all-around players in the mlb and will continue to be one for many years.  And MLB general managers picked him when asked the same question in sports illustrated.

Roy Halladay. An amazing consistent year after year pitcher. He can still average bout 7k's per nine innings this year and go longer into a game then anybody. He has hof stuff and will definitly win more cy youngs in his career and will probably get to 200+ wins. Plus good pitching beats good hitting.
