If you were to make a dragon deck, would you rather put a Spear Dragon, Spirit Ryu, or Mask of Darkness in it?

Yugioh tcg question.

deck has 20 monsters, 14 spells, and 6 traps.

all monsters are effect monsters.

Spear dragon would be able to inflict damage against defense position monsters but would be put into defense mode at end of turn.

Spirit Ryu discards a card to graveyard and gains 1000 atk and def points and you could use call of the haunted if traditional format to bring back the discarded monster, however, spirit ryu's attack boost only lasts during the card's controller's battle phase.

Mask of Darkness can bring back a trap and since I only have 6 traps in the deck, it might help out in a pinch. However, I already have 2 flip effect monsters and i have had bad experiences with having too many in a deck( rock deck ).

Do you have just a plain Dragon deck? If you do then I guess you should put Spear Dragon. Mask of Darkness would be nice unless you have something lese you really want to put in then put in that other card instead. Spirit Ryu is just horrible so don't put it in.

If you focus on Blue-eyes then you should focus on that strategy only and not put in Spear Dragon.

add three spear dragons ( there very good with no major floors ( being turned to defence isn´t always bad.) high atk and trample) and scrap the other things. also 6 traps is nothing unusual... inm fact in todays format thats to many traps (traps are to slow and todays format is mega fast!!!) The only good flip effect that isn´t banned is the lightsworn flip. dont run any if you can help it. Dragon decks lv4 beatsticks and thats y they used to be successful. if your trying the blue-eyes varient then add three paladin of white dragon and the ritual card needed and three mangu of a thousand hands (think thatrs the best 1 but may be mixed up). If you running the red eyes varient then 3 red eyes black chicks. all dragon decks should contain dragons mirrors and the five headed dragons and with the two decks above birthright will be effective (call for normal monsters)

UMM, i would say put the spear dragon in there

its ths trongest and its peirceing effect can be a big help.

also you dont have to limit yourself to 20 mosnters 20 magic/trap

you can switch it around a bit. like 17 mosnters and 23 magic and trap

as long as your magic and trap cards help support your monsters

and call of the haunted is a banned card, so dont use it!

i like spear dragons piercing effect and the fact that it goes to defense mode helps too i would definately add this one

spirit ryu drains your hand and does keep the attack so hes dead next turn

mask of darkness helped out of a pinch you said well if you think about it you shouldnt have been in a pinch ....you get my drift spear dragon is a good solid monster that deals damage whether the other monster is in attack or defense
