  1. I support St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, savedarfur.org, Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, and Product(RED).

If you are looking for a charity and want to make sure your money will go to a good cause go to Charity Navigator. You can pick what type of causes are important to you and see which organizations use the largest percentage of your donation for the cause.

Always donate using the charity's official website (which you can get off of Charity Navigator), never to a phone solicitor.

  2. depends...if I could only do so with money, I would choose something like a local food bank or something that gives every penny to the direct cause....

If it were with time....there are tons....for starters I build houses for Habitat....I would volunteer with doctors without borders....for AIDS orgs.....but I wouldn't give money to any of them b/c their overhead is a bit too high for my tastes.

  3. to St. Jude's Children's Hospital

  4. I support Demelza House Children's Hospice, Connecticut Children's Hospital, and the Pencil Project and Toys for Tots.

  5. I donate money regularly to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Christian Children's Fund, and the J.Kirby Simon Foundation.

I volunteer my time and ideas to the Hobart Shakespearians, Himalayan Healers, and the Peace Alliance.

I donate money sporatically to Kiva.org and Donate.org, and other causes that catch my eye as unique and worthwhile.

  6. I have been a volunteer with American Red Cross since August of 1992, I love it and the people.  We have a common goal and that is to help people.  I am in disaster services and coordinate the disaster action team which responds to local fires, tornadoes, tropical storms or any other disaster.  I am also a national volunteer which means I am sent to areas of the country post major disaster, like hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, floods, etc..  I am passionate about my "job" and would never leave.  I derive great satisfaction, especially when I receive a hug from a client, best feeling in the world, I was able to help them.
