  1. If they are so decayed that he is telling you that is the best option then I would have them pulled, at the very least go to another dentist for a second opinion. Excessive decay can cause health problems and can affect his adult teeth that haven't even come in yet.

  2. I would do it before it spreads to his permanent teeth. At least this way he'll have a normal smile and be able to eat normally in a few years... If it gets to his permanent teeth you could end up with a six year old wearing dentures!! Let him pull them before it's too late. Oh and I've seen babies who had no teeth at all eat beef jerky lol. So he'll adjust, it will be ok. Good luck! =]

  3. My cousin had to have a bunch of his teeth pulled when he was about 3 because of the decaying. I would do it, otherwise your child will be in a lot of pain for a long time, and it could cause an infection in his jaw. Just because they may not be hurting him yet, doesn't mean it won't before they fall out.

  4. less juss say he aint neva gunna see no toof fairy flyn aroun hiss room anytime soon

  5. I would get a second opinion at a completelhy different office maybe even a third i kno kids with baby teeth that have had crowns... Are they that bad? You should consult your pediatrician too because you will have to worry about whether or not he will be getting enough nutrition. Also i have a sister who knocked out her four front teeth at two and she had to have several years of speech therapy before her teeth grew back and even after.

  6. I would get a second opinion, but if the second dentist tells you to pull too you should do it.  You can get extremely sick from dental decay, aside from the pain if an infection occurs and enters the bloodstream you can get sepsis.  Please do not take this lightly.

  7. I don't think it really matters that much since they are just his baby teeth. The benefit to pulling them would be to keep them from potentially hurting his gums, but they will just fall out on their own.

  8. Can't they just kill the root and cap them? Thats what I've always heard of them doing, you should look into that option.

  9. Maybe you should get another dentists opinion or even three.

that is a very important issue.  My Daughter in law at 30 years old had all her teeth pulled out and false teeth put in.

Her gums had two abcesses and all the teeth had to be removed.  To have infected guns does not necessary to have infected teeth.

  10. I would have them removed before they decay any further into the gum area.

  11. First, go to another dentist where your first one is not present.  If that dentist also recommends pulling the baby teeth, ask him about what type of spacers/appliances are going to have to be used to keep his mouth in shape and the new teeth coming in straight.

Decay, even in baby teeth, can eventually cause pain if they are not already.  Good luck and make the best decision you can for your baby with the information you can accummulate.

  12. A friends daughter had her decaying teeth "covered" with caps, kinda like a crown. She seems happy and doesn't have any issues eating.

    Good luck

  13. Do it, after he's talking fluently. That way his development isn't slowed down, but he's not hurting.

  14. Well you have two choices here. You can either have them pulled and yes people with no teeth can still learn how to gum regular food- My Grandparents had no teeth and they ate meat and other tough items.

If you decide to just let them go the decay can cause infections which in turn are beyond painful- I have had them, they can decay down into the root and affect the permanant teeth before they even come in, Infections can in turn get into your bloodstream and cause major health problems.

If it was my child I would go ahead and get it done now so he can have a good set of permanent teeth.

  15. Get another opinion from a dentist at another facility.  Decay can cause serious health problems that you want to avoide but the first dentist sounds like a pr**k and to be there while you are getting a 2nd opinion from a colleague of his is unprofessional.  After another office evaluates your son, make your decision the best you can.  Good Luck!
