  1. i wold keep a third

donate a third to rspca cause they dont get no goverment funding and the other third to a kids hospital so they can have a nice life

  2. I wouldn't give a single penny to charity.

I don't need my ego stroked by such acts of largesse. And, perhaps at risk of being unfashionable, I really don't give a toss about the misfortunes of others. They just don't mean much to me.

The only people I'd help out are those I personally know, because I have a tribal mentality.

I prefer to sink my own spare funds and resources in to more tangible environmental endeavours, most local, a few national. I do what I can to look after the earth. In doing this, idiot humans get a better chance to look after themselves, though that has never, and will never be why I do it.

You know the thing about giving a bloke a fish and he can feed his family for a day, but give him a net and he can feed them every day?

Well, I work toward protecting an ocean full of fish.

I don't do it for the fishermen, though. I couldn't care less if he lives or dies. In fact, I regard the fisherman as little more than a common vandal and a nuisance and wish he'd sod off and take his misbegotten spawn with him.

I do what I do for the ocean, which I love more deeply that words can ever say.

The same goes for ecosystems all over this beautiful blue planet.

    Humans?

They're just a pain in the @rse. And right at the bottom of the list when it comes to charity.

  3. I give to charity now and I haven't won the lottery . I would give a lump sum though to my sons special needs school for specialist play equipment though.

  4. If I won the lottery, I would love to donate to charity. However, after doing a lot of research on charities, and finding out that way too much money is mismanaged many times, I feel that unless I can do something myself to help out, I probably would stay away from most charities.

In my case, charity would not start at home (because they have enough junk already and are all very capable of getting more of what they want). I would probably buy some toys for kids and volunteer my time at a kid's hospital or something like that, so that I could give them the toys myself. I would make a list of charities in my area that I would love to help and that need my help and arrange to volunteer there and give whatever they need. If it was a huge amount of money and I could travel, then I would also use the money to make a difference overseas. Seeing it happen in front of me is much more rewarding than giving money to someone and never knowing where it's really going to end up.

  5. As a recovered alcoholic who spent 3 months in re-hab and owe my life, and my fiance's to AA, I would open my own re-hab centre, but only take in people who either did not have the funds, or could not get the funds for their treatment.

  6. Id only donate to the ones that mean something to me, :ie my mum in law died of cancer, so id donate to cancer research. I love my cats to bits, so id give to pdsa.

  7. since I already do, on a small income, I dont see why a large lump sum would change that.

I take issue with the people who say that they are too poor to contribute to any charity, then go out, buy a pack of 20 cigs , then head down the pub for a beer.

Those sort will usually say "I'll give to charity, when I win the lottery".............. but you can bet your bottom dollar that they wouldn't give any more then, than they do now.

  8. I would donate some to charities close to my heart, i would not give to any charities sending begging letters!

  9. I would rather hang around supermarket check outs and pay for elderly people's shopping. Or anonymously post money through their letterbox, or find other ways to improve the quality of their lives. Let's face it our society and Government aren't taking care of them the way we should .

  10. If I won the lottery I would not donate any money to charity, I used to work as a professional fund raiser "chugger" signing up people in the street on a direct debit so the mainstream Charity's get a regular monthly donation. I used to sign people up for £5 a time, for each person I signed up the charity would pay the company I worked for £50, so for the first 10 donations the charity would see none of this money. Secondly charities waste lots and lots and lots of money, for eg getting television adverts made for hundreds of thousands of pounds and then deciding that they don't need them. Thirdly the people that the charities employ are on over the national average for the job type wage. I think what I am saying is that the big charities are not about helping people but helping themselves, ie put in simple terms one third of you donation will go on "administration cost" peoples wages. One exception that I did come across was the Samaritans" were all the phone staff are volunteers and only about 1% of donations goes to admin. I personally would give donations to individual "good causes" ie helping open up new hospital wings, affordable housing for the homeless, random letter drops of money packages etc.

  11. Yes I would, probably about 4 charities...........

  12. Absolutely without a doubt!

Some people are far too greedy these days, and only think of their selves! Charity may well start at home, but it is also nice to help others too!

I'd give to the Air Ambulance, as they rely on charity alone and do such a valuable job.

    Also the IFAW for animals.

All other charities get plenty from others!

  13. I'd keep the lot, at least I'm honest about it.

  14. Actually - the plan is to set up a Parrot Rescue/Sanctuary for the South of England. I would buy a house with some land and build amazing enclosures for the birds and take on all the unwanted, lost and abused birds I can. I would like to set up a sanctuary like the Parrot Sanctuary up north and devote m time to making their lives as fulfilling as possible.

  15. I would donate to cot death as i lost a little boy to it.

  16. I would but only charities that really matter to me not just for the sake of it.

  17. Huge win, like multi millions.....I'd only keep enough to keep me and my kids comfortable, the rest would be divided between family, friends and a few charities (3 that I can think of would be dogs trust, birmingham childrens hospital, acorns childrens hospice) When I say comfortable I do mean very comfortable, we would never have to worry about money again comfortable. I'd also give a similar level to my family and friends.

Small win, no, charity begins at home and this home needs it

Edit, I already have direct debit donations to 2 charities going out of my account so im not a tight a r s e

  18. No one ever gives me any money, except what I earn, so why should I give any of mine away.

The government takes a lot away, 20% income tax, 9% NI contributions, 17.5% VAT, extra tax on petrol, road fund licence, 5% insurance premium tax, annual £1500 council tax.

It gives this away to benefit scroungers and unmarried mothers who have higher incomes than me; I'm marginally above minimum earnings.

The difference between me and them is that the government knows that the thems are labour voters.
