Hi folks, I am doing a class project on Starbuck's inventory control. First, I am researching how a single Starbucks' store will order their inventory from suppliers. Also, does Starbucks' make sure that its employees are using the correct amount of ingredients (such as syrup) for a certain food item. Finally, does Starbucks' have a control or an indicator that estimates the current level of inventory within a store? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  1. any way any other  restaurant now a days does...and yes starbucks qualifies as a restaurant.  I don't work there but you can bet they probably have some sort of POS system...correct amount of ingrediants..?? you mean portioning

    YOU BET!

it's how they control costs and how you get a consistent product..

all of this is kept track of with the pos system

which is a computer system that keeps track of your inventory, scheduling, portioning and just about any other number you need to keep track of.

most will even keep track of what products are being sold the most..and reports back to the corp/franchise so they know which products to ditch and keep in the new quarters.  It's also how food places order food for the week.  They use the computer to compare and project for sales of any given week..although a good manager has a feel for what products and what amounts of them are needed for any given day, week and month.
