  1. Usually not, but what's the difference? All you have to do is walk next door.

  2. It depends on the individual casino. I've never worked in Las Vegas, but I dealt at casinos in Mississippi and some of them have parent companies which are in Vegas. Here in Vicksburg, most of the casinos don't let you gamble where you work, except for Ameristar Casino. If you are a dealer, you can play slots but not table games. If you work in slots, you can play tables but not slots. If you are a manager, you can't do either. As for the person who said something about a wink or whatever, obviously they've never worked as a dealer. Somebody could wink at me all day long and it wouldn't change a thing. If that were the case, I'd give as much money I could to a person I knew would tip, especially if I knew they'd tip me personally off the game. Puh-leeze.

When I worked at the Grand (now Harrah's) in Tunica, we could play slots and tables as long as we were off duty and not wearing our uniforms. When I worked at Gold Strike Tunica (formerly owned by Circus Circus and now by MGM MIrage), we couldn't play there at all.  So it's really at the discretion of the casino.

  3. Unless it's changed their are certain places you can gamble and bet on sports. But no table games.

  4. This is determined by company policy.  Some will allow it, others will not.

A general rule is that people cannot play in the same department in which they work.  That is, slot employees can play table games but not slots, Dealers can play slots but not tables.  Some casinos even allow employees to play while they are on break.  Usually employees will make sports bets in the casino where they work.

Many casinos are more restrictive about employees playing in the casino.  I have even worked in one casino in which all employees were prohibited from playing any casino games, even on their days off.

Most companies will usually have policy about playing at other properties they own.  For example, Boyd Gaming dealers can play tables at some other Boyd properties, but not properties that are in the same "business unit" as they one in which they work.  Circus Circus (when it still existed) did not allow dealers to play at tables at any other property they owned.  You will be told the policy when you are hired.

If you work in audit, accounting, surveillance, or security, you are always prohibited from playing any games where you work.  Naturally, managers cannot play in any area over which they might have authority.

It is a policy decision that is made by the company.  It is not regulated by the state.

  5. I see casino workers playing slot machines after their shifts. You could understand the table games, especially blackjack. A couple of winks and nods to your friend and you could change the percentages.

  6. normally you cannot gamble at your home casino. you can at other casinos.
