If your Bank Of America ATM card is lost, Will BofA Replace it with the same CC#?

if i lost my ATM card, and BofA replaces it, will it have a different credit card number? when i say credit card number i mean the ATM number.. will it be the same as my old card, or will it be different?

  1. The card number (the 16-digit number on the front of the card) will be different if they give you a new card because yours was lost or stolen.  If they gave you a new card with the same number, that would be pointless because if someone found your old card, they would be able to use it to buy things online, etc. since the cc number is still active.


  2. It will be different. Your old account number will be terminated under the assumption that somebody else now has possession of the card. You should phone B of A right away and report the lost card before somebody uses it. They will send you a new one in a few days.

  3. The card number will be different. Usually it will be just the last few numbers. The last numbers are the generation of the card. That's how the bank can tell the new card from the old card. The good thing is that if you have any automatic payments set up with your debit card they will still go thru. Any authorizations that were already set up prior to the card being lost will still be good. The card just will not accept new authorizations. Hope this helps.
