If there is no reason why they should be denied and everything is approved and they send to the embassy where relative lives can they deny them? Or what excatly does the embassy do for them and you? I know it says they go for interview but, can they still deny you a visa?

  1. Yes a relative can be denied.  The embassy's approval is the only thing that counts.  The NVC does nothing more than make sure the forms are correctly filled out.  Many visas are denied by consular officers after conducting an investigation and interviewing the beneficiary.

There are many reasons for denial by the embassy and most of them involve some type of fraud.... fraudulent documents, fraudulent relationships, previous undissolved marriages, criminal record, history of illegal drug use, failure of the physical exam, etc...

**********Believe me, no American consular officer would just turn you down for the heck of it.  They are professional foreign service officers and sworn to uphold the laws of the United States.  The people who post sob stories here about being hassled and denied for "nothing" aren't being fully honest.

  2. The Yak man is right again.  The National Visa Center checks that the documents are complete, but only an interview can determine if the applicant actually qualifies for the visa.  The embassy can also determine if the local documents are genuine or fraudulent, as well, which NVC personnel often cannot do.

  3. why worrying if there's no reason to get denied. Think positive
