  1. answer: I'd go with the original. It's accepted among Bible scholars that KJV got several things wrong.

Salvie - you are more than incorrect, you're dead wrong.  There are NO Jewish missionaries. Those were Christians pretending to be Jewish-Christians who probably couldn't read Hebrew.  There is OBVIOUSLY a difference between the original Hebrew and the KJV - one says the Jewish messiah will be born of a young woman, another mistranslated it as "virgin" to justify why Jesus had to be considered divine and will come back. He didn't fulfill the requirements of the messiah so he has to come back, according to Christian circular thinking.

  2. We have had two Jewish missionaries come to our church, and they say that the KJV is the same as the Hebrew Bible, except for the italizied words.  Other wise they are a like, and they are not fairy tales.  They are the truth, and they are a warning to all, but also a love letter to all.

  3. Go with the Hebrew Tanakh. It is your best bet.

  4. The original obviously

  5. it should be understood that the original source material for the bible is no longer around. even the oldest scrolls in existance are simply copies of the originals. that said, the closer a translation is to the original source material, the more accurate.

  6. The Bible holds more truths than any other book

How could Daniel predict more than 3500 years ago what we

are seeing before our eyes today!

The King James version of the Bible is surely not the original

Since in 350 A.D. The catholic hierarchy organized the  Bible putting  the old and new testaments together

But the original Hebrew Torah is the oldest

    I am not Catholic

  7. Assuming so!

Original, although you'd never know it from the way they cling to the mistranslation of Leviticus 18:22.

It's most likely about threesomes, people. Threesomes. Not the g*y.

  8. Hebrew bible would be the more accurate bible. When it was translated to english I think some things were changed. Not intentionally but the language is different with different meanings.

  9. it's because Hebrew is not the same as the English Language KJV translation of the bible is translated in 'Old English' and like for example the word, 'peace' the dictionary defines it whereas in the bible 'peace' or shalom in hebrew the holy spirit is teaches us to understand what it means..

Do you know the 'Amplified Bible Version' ? our pastors in church use AMP Bible Version together with KJV, NIV, and also the Message Bible for preaching..Here's how the translators of AMP explain their work, --"From the days of John Wycliffe (1329-1384) and the first Eng. Bible to the present, translators have worked diligently on English versions designed to faithfully present the Scriptures in contemporary language. The Amplified Bible is not an attempt to duplicate what was already been achieved, nor it is intended to be a substitute for other translations. Its genius lies in its rigorous attempt to go beyond the tradition "word-for-word" concept of translation to bring out the richness of the Hebrew and Greek languages. Its purpose is to reveal, together with the single English word equivalent to each key Hebrew and Greek word, any together clarifying meanings that may be concealed by the traditional translation method. Perhaps for the first time in an Eng. version of the Bible, the full meaning of the key words in the original text is available for the reader. In a sense, the creative use amplification merely helps the reader comprehend what the Hebrew and Greek listener instinctively understood (as a matter of course). Take as an ex. the Greek word 'pisteuo', which the vast majority of versions render  'believe'. That simple translation, however hardly does justice to the many meanings contained in the Greek pisteuo: "to adhere to, cleave to; to trust, to have faith in; to rely on, to depend on." Consequently, the reader gains the understanding through the use of Amplification, as in John 11:25: "Jesus said to her, i am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believe in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although He may die, yet He shall live." In the words of the apostle Paul, "And we are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the [Holy] Spirit...[that His glory may be both manifested and recognized]" (I cor. 2:13; Phil. 1:11). Here's also their fourfold aim: 1.) These  publications shall be true to the orig. Heb. and Gk.  2.) They shall be grammatically correct.  3.) They shall be understandable to the masses.  4.) They shall give the lord Jesus His proper place, the place w/c the Word gives Him.--

this is a little part found in their preface--yes it's too long, sorry..just want to share it to all..if you still want to read it just in case--hehe..

  10. If it's the Original Hebrew, then that's correct. :)

  11. Biblical truths, written LONG before being "discovered" by "modern" man:

    1) The spherical shape of the earth(Isaiah 40:22).

    2) The earth is suspended in nothing (Job. 26:7).

    3) The stars are innumerable (Gen. 15:5).

    4) The existence of valleys in the seas (2 Sam. 22:16).

    5) The existence of springs and fountains in the sea (Gen.7:11; 8:2; Prov. 8:28).

    6) The existence of water paths(ocean currents) in the seas (Psalm 8:8).

    7) The water cycle (Job. 26:8; 36:27-28; 37:16; 38:25-27; Ps. 135:7; Ecc. 1:6-7).

    8) The fact that all living things reproduce after their own kind (Gen. 1:21; 6:19).

    9) The nature of health, sanitation, and sickness (Gen.17:9-14; Lev. 12-14).

    10) The concept of entropy, that energy is running down (Psalm 102:26).

There ARE NO autograph copies...I don't know what you mean when you say you have an Original Hebrew Bible...Here are the OLDEST in existence:

The OT is The Dead Sea Scroll Bible, you can read about it and purchase it here:

    http://www.centuryone.com/0063-2.html

    Details are Here: http://www.centuryone.com/25dssfacts.htm...

This is Old Testament; New Testament is Here:

    http://www.codex-sinaiticus.net/en/

The New Testament translation into english online is still a work in progress, as stated on the site: This is the first release of the Codex Sinaiticus Project website. This website will be substantially updated in November 2008 and in July 2009, by when the website will have been fully developed.

These answers I have given are the OLDEST. The PUREST is somewhat a matter of opinion/debate; there is a lot of history and emotion regarding the King James version. I don't really think it matters, to split hairs over spelling and punctuation, when we're discussing ancient manuscripts.

What DOES matter is that "No doctrine of Christianity rests on either a single scripture or a disputed scripture." This is a quote from Bruce Metzger, Ph.D., Princeton University...Metzger is chairman of the New Revised Standard Version Bible committee, a corresonding fellow of the British Academy, and serves on the Kuratorium of the Vetus Latina Institute at the Monastery of Beuron, Germany. He is past president of the Society of Biblical Literatue, the International Society for New Testament Studies, and the North American Patristic Society.

If you scan the footnotes of any authoritative book on the text of the New Testament, the odds are you're going to see Metzger cited time after time. His books are mandatory reading in universities and seminaries around the world. He is held in the highest regard by scholars from across a wide range of theological beliefs.

  12. They are two subsumed accounts of the same era.

  13. Do you have an original Hebrew Bible?  You would need to get saved and have the Holy Spirit as a witness in your life in order to interpret these things.  Get with it.

  14. The Hebrew, assuming you actually have the Original Hebrew.

And if you see a conflict between the NIV & the KJV or the ESV & the KJV, the KJV is wrong.

  15. "If 16th century English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it's good enough for me!"

I've actually heard people saying this.

  16. Salvatio, there is no such thing as a Jewish "missionary".

  17. Neither one is a good book of history.  So many of the important things that were supposed to have happened, really didn't happen.  No first man/women, no world wide flood, no Jews in Egyptian slavery, no Moses, no Goliath, no Jesus.

Now if you are asking which is the most accurate translation, then I would be confidant in saying, the older one.
