I was just wondering how college works before i start.

When starting college and becoming a full time student do you have class everyday? or is their a schedules for classes where you go to class every other day?

  1. "Nola girl"'s answer is good and relatively accurate.

I'd just stress that in most colleges, the time table will look light compared to highschool (4 to 6 hours max in class, sometimes less).

remember though that you will NEED to study on your own or with team partners outside of the schedule time class, IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED! so you will be just as busy as in high school.  and you need to discipline yourself to study: no one will really check on you.

make sure you are familiar with the institution policies and rules because they will be applied, and no knowing them will not be an excuse.

    good luck

  2. Every college is different and each course is different, but I doubt you will have classes every single day. It depends on how you schedule your classes.

For each course you are given options for when you would like to take the course (Mon and Wed 1pm-2:40, Tues and Thursday 6pm- 9:30). If you want to you can schdule all of classes on the same days that way you may only have to go to class two or three days a week (but you'd be there all day). If you would rather only have one class a day, you might be able to schedule a five day semester, but I don't recommend it.

    Good luck!

  3. I'm in college. Ive been full time for a semester and part time for 2 semesters. A semester is about 3.5 months. Each semester you take different classes.

I've never had to go everyday of the week.

Basically at my school, you choose the class then you choose the times you want to go from what they provide. Usually a class is twice a week and lasts about an hour and a half. Or some classes are offered for one day a week for 3 hours.

So it depends on the times and days that you choose and how many classes you take. You might end up going everyday if that's how you schedule it, but then really you wont be in class all day, it'll be just a few hours a day at most.

Also in my college full time is considered 12 credit hours or more and each class is about 3 credit hours so 4 classes would be considered full time. That would end up being about 12 hours a week.

Also, dont forget about online classes if your school offers them.

  4. It depends on how you arrange your own class schedule, which then depends on the availability of classes at your particular school.  As you get into your major, it becomes more difficult to have the freedom of arranging your schedule since those specific classes are offered fewer times per year than your GE classes.

  5. well i really dont know anythin about college. but just to stay here and say congrats on graduating at high school i bet ur parents are proud of you :)
