  1. Haha.  You want to be a lawyer, but don't want to stand in front of the jury and make long speeches like they do in the movies.

    I hear ya!

Rest assured, the vast amount of lawyerly work is NOT like that.   THere are many things you can do to be a lawyer and never ever ever even see a jury.  If this is something you are interested in, than PLEASE go for it!  Lawyers make a lot of money.

    Good luck!

  2. There are many specialties in the legal field and MOST do not involve trials, at least not very often.  Contract law is one those areas.  You may have to testify in a contract dispute, but someone else would usually be questioning witnesses.  Probate attorneys deal with estate planning and and administration of wills.  They only deal with juries if a will is contested, which is less common than Hollywood makes it seem.

  3. You can deal in bankruptcy, wills, collections and other non-trial procedures.

  4. Many lawyers do not go to trial.  So, yes you could be a lawyer without going before a jury.  But, after 3 years of law school you might find that you don't mind trying cases in front of a jury.

  5. Most lawyers never see a jury except on Law & Order.

If you consider that only 2% of cases get litigated, there really aren't that many juries that are impaneled.

And as trials go, most are bench trials not jury trials.
