  1. Yes, It could be prevented from happening again, but this time you would have provide a password which in technical terms are called as 'Strong Passwords'.It is combination of upper & lower case letters, numbers, special characters(!,?,",@,#,$,......).It should be minimum of 10 character bits in length with no names, common words, Dictionary words etc.Keep in mind to include special characters in your password which makes the 'guessing' work more difficult. And don't write & keep the password any place near your system...........

  2. Change it to a difficult password to include numbers and letters. Do not use anything that a "friend" might guess from knowing you, this is how most hacking is done. Then if it is an internet subscribed account change your secret question/answer combination, again to something they will not guess as they may already have seen this..

  3. Your account on WHAT?  It depends on the security of whatever is hosting your account.

If you've been "phished," then changing your password should work unless the phishers have gotten a hold of personal info like your mother's maiden name, which they could use to answer questions and get back in to your account, so you'd have to change that too.

  4. What account?  Something like yahoo answers, change the password, check you profile, etc.

Your bank account ... talk to your bank.
