Sometimes, my 2 week old burps immediately when I try to burp her. Would you continue to pat her to see if there is more coming, or do you stop?

  1. I would say, if you continue patting her and she doesn't burp more, then that first burp is all that's coming up.  Some babies do one burp, some do several.  If you stop after that first burp, and she's fussy after eating, or spits up, then she probably has more burps.  Good luck!

  2. For my daughter, I always continued to pat for a few minutes. Usually she works up a couple more burps. If your baby always seems done after 1, then it's not necessary, but do whatever you think is best.

  3. I always gave her a second chance...and still do...because she spits up a lot and always has. If your baby doesn't, however, and doesn't seem gassy or fussy after eating and burping, you probably don't need to keep patting her back. Good luck and congrats on your new little one!

  4. If your baby burps right away, I would change her nappy, pick her back up and try and burp her again, the movement can dislodge a pocket of gas from in the stomach. Some kids are great at bringing up their wind, but others are not and end up with tummy pains. Just watch your daughter and see how she goes.

  5. if its a good burp thats o.k. but if your not sure it dosen't hurt to try longer some babies are good burpers. easier for you.

  6. I pat her for a little while..sometimes she gives a couple burps.

  7. I give her a few more pats then stop if that happens. No point in keeping going. And my daughter is totally fine with it. Usually if they burp really well then that's it until the next time they burp.

  8. I usually stop after she burps once, but thats because my daughter (3 weeks old) hardly ever burps after breast feeding. Now, formula is a different story. She ALWAYS burps a lot after eating formula. So I would say if your daughter is a big burper and burps immediately when you try, go for a little more. But if it seems like she never really has another one coming, then I'd say she is probably ok. She will let you know if she is uncomfortable (and needing to burp more) by squirming and fussing. If she seems happy and comfortable, you're probably okay to keep feeding her more or finish. I especially wouldn't worry about it if you are breastfeeding. Its much easier on their digestive system anyhow. Hope this helps :)

  9. This depends on the child.  Since your baby is still so young, its hard to know her pattern.  The best way to tell.. if you offer her the bottle and she refuses it, before she is completely done, then thats a good clue that she has another burp down in there.

With my twins, one big burp and they were done.. with my new little guy, he always had to get out 3 burps before he was ready to resume eating, lol.

  10. u should keep on burping the baby because there might still be gas in the baby's stomach I always burped my daughter for a little while then if she didnt burp anymore I would feed the rest of the food to her
