If your boyfriend was to go to jail, are you allowed to go in and get their stuff if your underage?

My friends boyfriend wants her to go in and get his phone and stuff but she's only 17. Would they even give it to her?

If he's signs paperwork beforehand stating he wants to specifically release his property to her, they you might not have any problems. But I also agree with the Trooper's first response, he seems to be pretty much in-the-know.

When I worked at a jail, the inmate had to sign a property release form.  The property release would be followed by a phone call or letter, and then the person AND ONLY THE PERSON that propety was released to could come and pick it up.  Where I worked, age was irrelevant, but times may have changed and jurisdictions may have come up with new laws.  Call the jail and ask them-they would know

That will be a matter of jail policy, but I'm not aware of any policy at our local jails prohibiting minors from taking property. First, he needs to sign a release form for his property, giving them permission to release it to you. If the will allow you to take custody of his property, you do not need to go in to get it, they will bring it to you in the lobby.
