  1. The school will probably send her back anyway. Most schools have a policy of 24 hour fever-free.  I'd keep her home anyhow, just to keep an eye on her and let her rest.

  2. I'd keep them home

  3. No..schools require a child to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

  4. I would keep her home. Better she misses one day even if it is the first day then go and it gets worse and she misses more. Just let her rest, give her plenty of water, make her some soup(even if it's hot outside), keep a cool cloth on her forehead and give her medicine every 4 hours.  Good luck.

  5. Not only would I NOT send them but I"d be furious at a mother who did! Your child could infect an entire classroom!

  6. I agree with Charli, school, kindy and daycare is not a sick child minding service. If your child is sick, keep them home until better. My daughter has just started kindy and her first week she got conjunctivitis and had to stay home.....she wasn't sick but horribly contagious. School and kindy is not a place for sick kids at all.

  7. keep her home. you should wait 24 hours for the fever to break. If it gets worse, take her to a doctor. Its a shame she's missing her first day of school, but better safe than sorry.

  8. Keep her home.  She probably won't feel well enough for school as it is.  Besides, it's a HUGE pet peeve of mine (and many other parents) when people send their kids to school sick.  It's a bit selfish of parents to risk infecting the whole group just so one kid doesn't miss out.

By the way, I'm certainly not calling YOU selfish, as you're new to all this and probably didn't realize the harm.  =)  It sounds like your little girl is just starting school.  I hope when she's feeling better, she has a great first day!

  9. No never.

The parents who send their kids to school with fevers annoy me. They make other kids sick.

  10. no ..if she has a fever she is sick and sending her to school will pass what ever she has around to others...she needs to stay home to get better.

  11. yea keep her home, you dont want her first day to be a bad one. Call the school and tell them whats going on

  12. they may send her home anyways if the fever spikes again after the medicine wears off. i know, i work in a childcare center. let her start tomoro. feel better little one

  13. No. Keep her home.

They won't monitor her fever at school. It's not a hospital. So if it goes up nobody will know.

Also they aren't, by law - without signed consent - allowed to administer medication.

Keep her home until she's well. She won't learn or be her proper self if she's sick anyway. One day won't hurt her lifetime educational goals.

    :P
